Renter beware!

We lived there when it was still fairly new and it sounds as though the problems we experienced have not been addressed and are only getting worse. We lived in a ground floor apartment and when we had neighbors above us, we could often hear them (and yes, we have lived in other apartments, so we know about apartment living--but it seemed worse in this place.) There were multiple problems at various times with the plumbing. Leaks at the shower head that required ripping it out and completely re-doing it and lots of replastering. Leaks from the pipes on the third floor apartment that went down to the 2nd floor and finally to us--major ones that required a LOT of work on all three floors to clean up after the repairs were made on the top floor. The parking was problematic back then as well. If I had not hung heavily insulated drapes at the sliding glass doors to the patio and also hung curtains at each window, it would have been difficult to heat the apartment and keep it at a decent temperature without sky-high utility bills. (SO glad I thought to do that with the drapes and curtains, although it was a pain because I had to hang them over the blinds so that from the outside the windows looked identical to all the other apartments--management rules, you see.)

I found it interesting that in the time we lived there, the ENTIRE outside of every building was painted not once, but TWICE (and in different color schemes each time), yet nothing was done on the INSIDE of any of the apartments--and obviously, the plumbing was not up to par).

When we first lived there the office staff was OK--not rude, but just OK. Hoever, there was staff turnover and by the time we left, all they did was parrot the company line (we were not problem tenants, either--just simple requests that were few and far between). The maintenance staff was not very speedy and the work was not always the best quality--it had also started out better and also went downhill (turnoever there, as well.

We have lived in other large apartment complexes over the last few decades (we prefer renting an apartment), but this is one of only two that we would never live in again. By the way, we always get excellent references from past apartments, including this one, about our history as tenants. Just don't feel like this one is worth the $$$$$ they charge (although the views from our place were breathtaking).
