I lived in the Pinnacle Highland from 8/2005 until 8/2006 and I thought I would share my experience with you. I had never lived in a big apartment complex before, so I cannot compare my experience to another complex, but this is what I found.

PROS:
The apartments are in a nice location and it is very close to ski areas and minutes away from Big/Little Cottonwood Canyon. However if you work downtown this can be a nightmare as you hit traffic to and from work. The pool is very nice and usually not very crowded. The apartments are nice and clean because the place is fairly new. There are nice common areas and walkways around the complex.

CONS:
PARKING!!! This is by far the worst part of living here. I lived in a 3-bedroom apartment with 2 other people and we were only assigned 1 parking spot. There was very limited unassigned parking so I usually had to park 1/2 mile away from my apartment. This was a HUGE pain especially in the winter. It??s also a pain when you invite people over, but you have to instruct them to park a ?? mile away and then try to instruct them on how to get to your apartment.

The apartments are very cheaply made so things would often break. Good luck ever getting anyone to come fix anything. My curtains on my window broke about a month after moving in and they were never fixed. The walls are very thin so if my roommates were watching tv in the living room, even at normal volume, I would not be able to fall asleep in my bedroom because of the noise. Also the apartments are built on a big sand hill. I??m pretty sure if there was any kid of earthquake or landslide, the apartments would be history.

The management did things that I thought was pretty underhanded. Instead of a 30-day notice you have to give a 60-day notice, which I'd never heard of before. We gave our notice 30 days before our lease was up and were informed that we had to stay an extra 30 days. Now this would have been fine, but they increased the rent in our apartment to "market value?? which meant the rent went up $500!! We were forced to pay this amount. Then when we were ready to move out the inspection people came a day earlier than they said they would, before we had fully cleaned out the apartment! They charged us to clean several things that we were planning on cleaning on our own. The management reduced the price of the cleaning because of this- but I still thought it was pretty ridiculous.

The price of rent seemed like an ok value, but be warned that they don't cover ANY utilities. You pay for Water, Sewer, Garbage, ect. Since the walls are so thin, our gas bill in the winter was always outrageously expensive.

Overall it was an OK place to live, but I would never return there or recommend the place to anyone else.

I agree totally -- especially for charges for cleaning and other items that were already clean or not broken -- because I was gone and they thought they could get away with the charges. So unscrupulous --and rude and arrogant to the hilt. They're just so "Utah" -ignornant and don't know it. They think that being "managers" means being snobby and rude. But, that's par for course in doing any kind of business in Utah- be forewarned -- it can be roller-coaster ride. Bottom line - it's whatever works in their world is all that matters -- and you don't if you're not in their world. Can't wait to severe all ties with this city and go back to the real world.

Sorry you had such a bad experience but please don't think it's all of Salt Lake. After renting at various complexes around the valley, I can vouch that this must be the worst. They don't love their residents like their stupid little signs claim. I really think they must hate them the way they treat them. Their arrogance and poor facilities are just the tip of the iceberg. RUN AWAY from Pinnacle Highland!!!
