The leasing office is extremely hard to deal with. They are nice if you call to just ask a question, but if you have a "complaint"-forget the niceties. They are very abrupt and argumentative when we have called with complaints. We have called several times to complain about noise and cigarette smoke entering our apartment. I've suggested that they have "smoking" and "non-smoking" buildings but the leasing office told me that it "isn't possible". So if you don't smoke, prepare to move out with lung cancer anyway. They do have a letter that they are supposed to send out about people only smoking outside, but half the time the letter never actually gets sent out. And if it does, it's 3-4 days after the complaint. Most of our neighbors are so inconsiderate that the letters don't do any good anyway. Prepare to spend 2-4 hours duct taping and plugging up vents and pipes upon move in, if you don't smoke and don't want to smell cigarette smoke while you live there. Even then it will stink, but it does help some.
Maintenance is also incompetent. If you "schedule" a time for someone to come look at or fix something, expect a 2-6 hour window for someone to actually show up. Also, for minor things like fixing towel racks, they don't really "fix" the problem. All of our towel racks were hanging off the wall when we moved in and we pointed that out to the maintenance supervisor (who did our inital walk-in) and he asked us if we wanted them fixed. No, I don't want to be able to hang up my towels! Duh! Someone came over the same day to fix them, but they still fall off the wall all the time. So if it's small and you can do it yourself, save yourself a headache and just do it yourself. Our carpet also has big black stains all over it and they claimed it was cleaned before we moved in. Most of the black spots didn't come up with carpet stain remover so we had to buy a bunch of rugs to cover stains up on the floor.
The grounds are also in poor shape. They look nice at the very front of the complex near the leasing office, but beyond the very front they are neglected and trash is everywhere. The lawns don't get mowed, the sprinklers water the parking lot, not the grass.
Also, parking is horrendous. Our assigned parking spot was in front of the building next door. And that building wasn't very close to our building. There is also inadequate non-assigned parking. A lot of times we drove and drove around the parking lot looking for a place to park, and often ended up on the other side of the apartment complex before we actually found a spot. So be prepared for some hiking.
The news channels also loved Eastridge. The police were at the complex on a regular basis, and several times so were the news channels. So if you want to get on t.v...this just might be the place for you.
We only signed a years lease and I'm glad. We'd have left at 6 months if we hadn't signed the year lease.
