Great place to live . . . if you like calling the cops.

My husband and I moved into these apartments right after I graduated from college so we had both been used to living in student ghetto apartments but nothing could compare to living at Eastridge. Of course we fell for the "show apartment" temptation. It looked great and absolutely nothing like the actual apartment we moved into.
We were told that the apartments were all non-smoking but just walking into the apartment for the first time smelled like there had been a casino set right in our living room. No matter how many air fresheners we used or how many deep scrubbings we made on the place, the smell never went away. Plus, cigarette smoke would come through the vents when our neighbors would light up despite the no smoking rules. It was embarassing to have people visit us.
Parking was horrible. Our assigned spot was two buildings down (about a block away) despite all the empty spots right in front of our building and sometimes even our spot would have someone in it. We frequently had to park a couple blocks away.
The actual apartment wasn't too bad. The rooms were big and the layout was pretty good. However, there aren't any ceiling lights. We had to buy 10 lamps and some track lighting to be able to see anything.
The worst part about living there was not feeling safe. Someone tried to break into our apartment. We returned home to see our doorknob plate all scratched and bent up as well as the doorknob. We had to call the cops once because a fight broke out between six people right under our window at 3:00 in the morning. The cops got there fast though because they know the place very well. There were a couple squad cars there at least once a week. We also returned home one day to find a note on our door from the management describing an incident that had occurred where there was a standoff between police and a resident's ex-boyfriend and a resident had been taken hostage for a short time. The note was to reassure us that the incident was unique because the attacker knew their victim and the complex was usually safe. We started looking for a new place to live right away.
The noise was terrible. We've lived in loud college student apartments but even there it's not every night. We could hear EVERYTHING that went on in the surrounding apartments. We were frequently woken up at 6:00 in the morning to our neighbors screaming at each other and their two dogs barking at them.
We couldn't get out of our lease so we ended up moving a month early and having to pay rent at two apartments just to get away from Eastridge. I would never recommend living there to anyone.

Having lived in Eastridge for several years & having several friends that live here as well I would say that the person above had a very rare experience & never bothered to say anything to the managment about any of there problems or they never really lived in there in the first place.

I agree with Cindy. I have also lived at eastridge for several years. Over four years actually. I have always found this to be a great place. The layouts are awesome. I don't believe that the person who wrote this article is very observant and much of what is written seems inaccurate. I live in the front part of the complex next to an elderly individual and yes the fire trucks have frequented the complex, however never for fires to my knowlegde rather to my neighbors apt. due to a slip and fall or similar situations. As far as the police are concerned i actually feel comfortable knowing they re taking care of things unlike the police at my old West Valley apt. complex. I attended a neighborhood safety meeting the office and the midvale police held earlier this year, I hope that this resident attended as well to voice their concerns. They shared alot of useful info that non of my past apt complexs ever tried to address. The interesting thing was nearly none of the other residents cared to show, even with free pizza being provided. I believe that any apt that puts together a crime free program with thier neighborhood police station, and have an agreement for them to walk the property at night, as well as drive thru should be commended no criticised.
