Avoid this place at all costs

I helped my son move out, (lease in my name). I helped clean the apartment and cleaned the carpet, which was NOT clean when he moved in. I touched up what small marks were on the walls. Have before and after pictures. The bathroom was not clean at move-in, was super clean at move out. Guess what' Sky Harbor keeps $30 for "cleaning" the carpet, and $60 for touching up the paint because he was there less than 12 months! And charged him $36 for end of lease until new move-in. Excuse me, but that is a cost of doing business, and, as the apt was vacated one week prior to end of lease there should not be a charge. That apartment was move-in ready the day we walked out.
I have NEVER lost one dime of a security deposit in my life, until Sky Harbor.
Lesson learned. My son will never rent in an apartment complex again.

Same thing happened to me,
I have got a worst carpet, these people say me that carpet was not cleaned and they cleaned, i went to that same home now my friend lives, they changed the carpet, I requested for carpet change for 100 times, they have not considered, but for new guys they made a carpet change.
Also i have done a thirdparty cleaning, they chaarged me more than 100 for this even though i have done third party cleaning. In bath rooms in this apartment there is new kind of fungus developing, it cant be cleaned and they are charging for this also. The tiles.
On the whole they are blood suckers, they charged me 399$ deposit is also lost.
I stayed in USA for more than three years, this kind of experience I never saw

Yes corporate apt communities can be very unscrupulous towards tenants. Im am suprised they didnt give you a move-in inspection sheet and let you go throught the apt to check off anything that wasnt right. In this day and age video footage is a must before you move in and when you move out. might be a good idea to turn this place into the BBB to.

We DID have a move -in check list and all problems, there were a lot, were recorded and photographed. They never cleaned the carpet, never fixed the toilet which was not bolted to the floor,( moved around when one sat on it), never attempted to fix anything except the hot water (no hot water at move-in). They have these automatic deductions apparently in the lease agreement. It took 6 weeks to get the rest of the deposit which I know is past time allowed by Utah's tenant's rights rules. $90 is not worth going to court over, so yes, expensive lesson for a 20 yr old. He did not have much choice as he applied online from long distance and had to have a place to live the day he arrived in SLC. He has found a roommate situation in a house now. Much better situation for him.
