Better options out there

The apartments themselves are as described by other reviews, with older amenities (and the studio is really small). The maintenance was usually responsive, and we didn't have any major problems with amenities breaking. While there are a couple of very nice individuals working in the office, there are also some very rude ones, who can make resolving minor issues very frusturating.
We had a package get stolen from the office, of which the contents were worth over $100. Packages get delivered directly to the main office rather than your door, which is a major problem because the packages just sit out on the floor of the office where anyone can (and will) take them.
After our 3-month lease was up, we tried to either go month-to-month or sign another 3-month lease (both of which are options, although of course month-to-month rent is significantly more per month). We were told neither was a problem - AS LONG AS we moved out of the apartment we were living in and moved in to a different studio! AND we would have to pay the carpet cleaning fee for the one we lived in before doing so, then do it again when we moved out of the next one they wanted us to move into. This did not seem reasonable, but all they said was there was some rule that if you want to renew a lease, you have to move into a different apartment in the same complex. Needless to say, this was a lot of hassle for nothing. In addition, when we moved out, we were charged a large part of our deposit - and the place was SPOTLESS. I have never been charged any of my deposit before or since for not having a place clean upon moving out. Overall, there are some nicer places around Salt Lake, with management that would be more willing to meet you half-way.
