Glad to be gone

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
We lived at Alpine for 2 years. The apartment had a nice lay out, the grounds were well maintained and the maintenance guys were nice and tried their best. The down sides are that the grounds keepers leave the patios a mess behind them, the office staff (aside from Matt) have no customer service skills whatsoever, IT IS WAY OVERPRICED!!!! and parking sucks.
OK, big issue: they completely do not understand sprinkler systems. They would schedule them to run around midnight and had one pointed so that it would rotate into the gutter system. So every few seconds you would hear a loud "clang" as it rotated and hit the gutter. After the neighbors went out and broke the sprinkler heads a few times so that they could sleep, the complex adjusted the heads the correct way and then turned them on between 5:00pm and 10:00pm when people were coming home and got drenched trying to get into their home. I don't know why they have such a hard time with this but it was frustrating to say the least.
In broad daylight, our neighbors had their front door kicked in and the office never alerted anyone to keep an eye out. The outside fire alarm evacuated the entire building one night at 1:00 am, wailed for 40 minutes and no one ever showed (fire department, police, maintenance crew, security.... no one!). I eventually disarmed the alarm and everyone went back to bed. The hot tub & pool were closed for 8 months and we never received any discount or credit back for unavailable amenities.
It's worth mentioning twice that they're way overpriced. Shop around and it's easy to see.
The electric in our apartment cut out constantly and intermittently in various outlets. It was just frustrating at first, and we had the maintenance guys come look 3 times, but then it became downright unsafe as we would randomly smell burning and see puffs of smoke come from the outlets. Of course they weren't able to find a root cause (to be fair, they're not electricians but they need to hire one to look into this before something bad happens in that building).
The metal stairs can be a pain if you're on the bottom floor because some neighbors or kids have no concern at all about tromping up and down them which produces a pretty good vibration through the master bedroom.
Parking is very unorganized and you have to constantly make sure you're on the list for a better spot or they'll forget about you.
It's not a nightmare complex by any means but it's not worth the price.
