Good Tenant No Reward

We have lived at Legends for almost a year now and its been great. There are some little quirks that other tenants have mentioned that are true but a lot also depends on your neighbors so its hard to give the complex a negative for some of it. Most of the year while we were here we couldn't hear a sound. We rarely heard our neighbors upstairs and never heard the ones next door. However, both of those tenants moved out and the new ones upstairs sound like they're moving furniture each night! And, the ones next door, we can hear snorning at night.
Another tenant mentioned the toilets. Its very true. We can hear each time the toilet is flushed upstairs. It sounds like a rush of water flowing through the walls. It really is very loud. The other thing is the heater. There is a huge panel in the wall where I imagine the unit is because when the heat comes on, something roars to life behind that panel.
These are very nice apartments though corners have obviously been cut when it was built. The countertops in the kitchen are very cheap. If you do decide to move here make sure your coffee cup doesn't leave a ring on the counter. If it does, it stains and its very hard to get out.
If you had asked me if I loved this place up to even a week ago I would have said yes. The office staff has never been anything but kind and helpful. They're always ready with a smile and willing to help. I love that they are open on Sundays and they have exceptional office hours. They're open until 6:30 on weekdays which is so nice when you get home at 6:15 and discover you have a package waiting at the office.
However, this week, we received our notice that our lease was expiring. I thought we would be renewing but discovered that our rent would be raised by over $150 a month! Very concerned with this high of a raise I called the office and spoke with one of the leasing agents. He was very curteous and said he would talk with his manager to see if there was anything they could do. The manager called back and quoted market prices and how they are unable to do anything for us but raise the rent. I'm extremely disappointed. Its upsetting that being on time with rent, being a good tenant and the only reward is to have our rent raised. I feel like the complex is more interested in making more money rather than keeping good tenants. Now, I'm not sure if we will renew or not. We've only been given two weeks notice of the rent increase before we would have to turn in our notice letting them know we'll be moving out so I guess we have to make the decision quickly.

I'm confused to why you are upset that you didnt get a "reward" for holding up your end of the Lease Agreement like you are supposed to. You signed a contract stating you would obey the policies and also pay your rent on time, by doing so... they let you live there! I'm sure that the rent increase has nothing to do with how good of a tenant you are- it is based on the market and the occupancy. if a property can afford to up the rates and keep a high occupancy, why wouldnt they do it?
