Overpriced Hovel

At first glance this complex seemed a nice place to live. But after signing the lease agreement & actually seeing the apartment it was a nightmare for the next 7 months. When we first entered the apartment there was a strong dog urine smell to which the landlord said she would have the carpet company come in to clean & treat again.(I honestly don't think they had it done before). Two months later & after we had cleaned the carpets ourselves he shows up to treat the areas. There was paint over spray on all surfaces;(e.g. mirrors, countertops, fridge). The heating elements on the stove were loose or broken. There was old food in the diswasher & garbage disposal. The fridge door did not hang or seal properly even after repairs had been made. There were loose boards in the floor that later (winter time) started to spew black soot from the heating ducts for the apartment below up through our carpet. The vents in our apartment also spewed the same black soot. The entry door was warped & did not seal letting in the cold air in winter. None of the interior doors fit the door frames & didn't close properly. When repairs were needed it would takes weeks for maintainence to get around to it if we hadn't already fixed it ourselves. They charge you for parking, for water (regardless of the # of tenants it is the same price & that is not dislosed until lease is signed), property tax,& if you do not hold renters insurance. The rent is ridiculous for apartments in such disrepair. I would recommend a cardboard box before I would recommend Atherton Park Apartments to even my absolute worst enemy.
