When i moved to 3001 park center, we had a door man (he would even feed your cats when you were on vacation), 24 hour front desk, shuttle to pentagon city mall, and a nice community newsletter. Those things are now gone. the front desk is only open during leasing office hours (so you're toast if you get packages and work typical DC area hours).
Expect your rent to go up $200-400 per year. It costs $500 to move into another apartment (if you want to 'upsize').
There is gated parking. Reserved parking spaces cost extra, covered parking even more. There are security cameras, however they are worthless. My motorcycle was stolen from the covered area near the camera, but the police said the video quality was useless. No more bike.
Saying that, the apartments are very very sound proof. So if you like music or have that high power entertainment system, your neighbours won't want to shoot you.
You can have the painters paint your apt, or you can paint it yourself - this is a really nice touch to make it more homey.
The windows aren't well sealed - there is a lot of road / wind noise.
If you don't have a reserved space, there is parking, but you end up having to park waaay in the back unless you get home from work before 4pm.
I used to love the place, but with the rent going way up and the amenities going down, and with the attitude of the new management company (the board fired the last ones because they were too tenant friendly and not focused enough on profitability), I'm looking for something else. You can probably get more for less in the same neighbourhood.
