The Pros - The apartments are nice and include nice things, like fireplaces and lofts. Access to hall the digital cable you could want. If you like, satellites then they allow dishes put in buckets, but only in apts facing the southwest. For Power can have dominion or NVEC I believe. Water is 26 On top of your rent paid to the community. They now all have new windows. You have your own thermostat so when it is cold you can turn the heat on, and vice versa. Some complexes do not let you do that. The car wash area is handy, when there is a hose to use. I have not seen any roaches... well I saw one roach in the whole time I lived here, and I think he was lost. Then my dog ate him. All my neighbors are nice. Most are in the military. There is a no-leash dog park 10 m. down the road. Ft. Belvoir s Wetland reserve is adjacent to the community, and is a great place to run. The state wet land park is right next to that. The park is a great place to play baseball. The wetlands are behind all that and you cannot really go there unless you are a beaver / duck / mosquito, and neither can roads, so to get to Springfield mall you have to go all the way around.

The Cons - Speaking of wetlands, The Apartments are built in a watershed area... meaning that the spring rains bring flooding; About 6 feet of flooding that moves cars with its current. I was at work during the first four hours of last-years flash flood so I came home to about 3 feet and left my car at Roy s. Me and My Roommates thought it was fun and skim boarded in our bathing suits... we also helped an old woman who was stuck in the raging waters down the street, and we used the occasion as an excuse to get drunk. However, we were on the second floor. Those on the 1st floor'; not so happy. The Management apparently replaced the carpet and said everything else was on them. Speaking of The Management, it changed from good to bad. When I fist moved in, any problem I had was fixed the same or next day. Now I have asked someone to fix something twice and still no one has come. The apartment advertises a dog run as a popular amenity, but there is no actual dog run. The area between some apartment buildings has a trashcan and a bag dispenser you can pick up poop. That is it. In addition, they cannot seem to keep the dispenser full. Therefore, the poop piles up. Another disappointment is the kitchen, the stove is of low quality and the counters are some kind of spray-on laminate that peels off. They could at least buy Formica. The Trash Compactor is always broken and goes without repair for a week or two... meanwhile refuse builds up either around said compactor or outside of tenets apartments. This is great if your Oscar the grouch and you live in a trash can. However, it s not for me. In addition, there is only one compactor, so it is a pain to take your trash out if you live far away from it. One thing we don't live far away from is a large low income community which brings crime, a lady and her 5-year-old, who lived close to me, came home to find a man in her apartment trying to rob her, he split though the window and she ran down the street screaming help. Many neighbors did come out to help. Then somebody called the cops. They came in about 20 minutes. By that time, the person was long gone. About two days later, some one climbed up my balcony and attempted to enter my apartment. Probably the same guy, unfortunately for him my door was locked and my roommate was lying on the couch. He put on his superman cape and chased him down the street. The guy's still out there... Waiting. If you hate kids, do not move here because they run around and scream as kids do. I do not particularly care but some people really hate kids. If you hate dogs I would not move here either, cats on the other hand I have not noticed too much of. On the hating trend, So, If you HATE D___p_d Ca_ls. GET CINGULAR. But Cingular, or any cell phone for that mater doesn t work inside. Why' Who knows, aluminum siding maybe. I just know cells do not work.
