To make this clear, NONE of the Utilities are individually metered per resident, NONE of them. They are all based on your apartment size and how many residents (you may or may not report) that are living there. When I called ISTA they explained it to me, as did the paper work Newport village sent. They take the whole cost and divide by resident so if you don't cook but your neighbor with 10 family members cooks all day non-stop YOUR paying for it. The lady at ISTA totally said what we were paying was ridiculous and that most apartments are individually metered because of ethical'fairness issues. Apparently, Archstone doesn't care about us too much huh'

I NEVER EVER cook or use the heat (its MUCH too hot in these apartments to do so). However, my bill this past month was $145!!! And I cannot believe we are all just bending over for this....

Keep in mind when you say "hello" to those neighbors who have 10-15 people in a two bedroom THEY ARE COSTING YOU TONS OF MONEY. TONS. They are using way more water, electric and gas then the rest of us yet WE are paying for it. Leasing doesn't give a crap either.

***I don't think it's legal how they say you have to pay "YOUR OWN" utilities, these utilities are not "our own" any lawyers living here'*** Look at your lease, it states, "your own utilities." They are not your own when it's communal.

UPDATE: Bills went from $175 to over $200 even when we dont use them. This place is way too expensive given what you get. Please see the pictures of the hallway lights with ROACHES in them, they have never been cleaned. These are also picture of roaches and centipeds in our apartment.
