have you noticed Rents are up, by the way, because the word is out and vacancy is at an all time high. A smaller pool of tenants means higher rents to pay fixed costs and salaries for good-for-nothing employees. Tenants are paying for the problems.
They have serious problems with their electrical system when you turn one lamp off in the bedroom another light turns on same thing if the power goes out so lights still on others off, varies from apartment to apartment building to building.
Management never answers their phone, they have a recording however they have unknown working hours as their hours are not listed on their answering machine (Which you get each time you TRY to call them) or on their website or front door. I guess they work whenever they feel like it.
They had a bad habit of turning the air conditioning totally OFF at night so you wale up confused and sweating. SSSSHHHH its back on by 6-7AM. This boggles the mind since WE PAY ALL UTLITIES EVEN THE ONES WE DON T USE because the do ratio billing meaning you DON T pay what you ACTUALLY use.
Please give me an update: Are there still little ghetto children wanna be gangsters running around the place vandalizing cars, signage, and OTHER peoples property' Are there still a bunch of ghetto kids running around terrorizing the neighborhood, throwing food and trash around' Starting gang fights at the pool and both playgrounds' Are they still getting into the pool because the lifeguard is 14 and refuses to ask or see anyone s pool passes' Make sure you go by the pool so you can see FIRST what kind of people are going to be your neighbors. Do the ghetto cars still pump their music as they "cruise" the "hood"' Do you still look over your shoulder when walking around at night' Any recent murders, armed robberies, break-ins or car thefts in the last day or two' When I lived here there were about two cars stolen a night one on the Braddock Rd side one on top of the hill and a few armed robberies in the parking lots.

WOw, I haven't had any of those experiences either. I'm going into year number 2 also, but i'll probably request a transfer simply because i need to move closer to my professional venues. Though my apartment is also falling apt they were very great about responding promptly and compensating me for the inconvienience when i asked for it.
The only security concerns i had were after my car was stolen for downtown DC along with my house keys and i was bit on edge but other than that no real signs of any trouble - it's seriously quiet most of the time - which is great for me as my work schedule right now is utterly ridiculous it would be horrible if i couldn't sleep during the day :o)
I think it's an alright place if you need space but can't afford or don't want to purchase right now. Brand new renovated apts are great too!

Wow, I haven't had ANY of these experiences here. I'm on year number 2. Aside from a fighting couple upstairs, things are pretty quiet in my building and on my side actually. I have had problems getting things fixed. My apartment is falling apart which is probably why my rent didn't go up this time. LOL. But as for the crime, "ghetto kids", etc., haven't experienced that. But I don't plan on renewing after this year. Quite frankly, I'm tired of all the dogs in the neighborhood.

Dogs are the least of my problems I share a few experinces with this poster, for one you can never get anyone on the phone in the office the machine always picks up, two and A/c is turned off at night. Three the police have been called multipule times latly please see the Alexandria police website about this to confirm the truth you can also call the non-emergency number and get an update. Finally there are unsavory people living in my builling and let's leave it at that I have been raised not to talk bad about people but let me assure you that they might be consitered "ghetto" to most people in this area.

Funny, I had my AC on last night and was actually chilly when I woke up this morning.
And I see the hours posted on the sign outside the office everytime I look at it. They are there, just bother to look around.
If you are so against living there, move somewhere else. Archstone allows you to transfer your lease to any other community. Stop kvetching and do something about it.
