My husband and I moved out in January, now it is July 11, 2008 and I received a collection notice for payment that was paid inm January. I wrote them a notice, sent a copy to the home office and if they don't reply will seek an attorney. I did not pay EVERY BILL ON TIME to receive such a letter. Same thing happened to us! This Friday (711/08 my wife and I received a note from a collections agency. today we called Archstone and they realized we had paid the bill. Nevertheless, this is getting reported to some kind of authority.

I too just recieved a note from collections 7/14/2008, for a bill that I have no idea where it came from. Its rather odd that so many people who moved out in January, as I also did, are receiving these bogus notices. Newport village as well as the entire Archstone brand are full of it. I would not recommend living in any of thier communities to anyone, they are money driven and for the most part rude and not helpful at all!

Funny, we received one as well. The difference is that we moved out in March 2007!!! When we moved out, we paid our pro-rated rent and the current Ista bill. Few months later, we get out final bill, showing we never paid the pro-rated rent or Ista bill due March 1st. Called them up and after going round and round, they realized their mistake and credited our account, leaving us owing $108 for our Ista bill. Well, now almost 1.5 years later we get a bill for $242!! What a headache trying to find everything and get this straightened out!!

I'm in the same boat as the last response. I moved out in March 2007, and here it is August 2008 now and I get a call this morning telling me I owe $331 from 16 F!$^ing months ago! Are they serious? I thought it was a fraud and hung up on them.

I moved out in April 2008 and got one in August. But as with the rest of you, I don't owe them a dime either!!! Trust me, Monique, the asst. property manager is the most incompetent individual I've ever met! Archstone management should really take a look at her work performance. Oh but wait, she's pulling in bogus revenue for them so why would they do that!!!

This is funny, I moved out in Feb. 2007..and guess what, received a crazy call about a month ago saying I OWE!! Lucky for me, I kept records of every payment. I lived there for 3 years and during that time, I swear there had to be about 10 different property managers. Bugs, nasty trash rooms, hall never cleaned, grounds filthy and never never any parking. I lived up the hill and I swear it was like living in a "war zone". I used to spray febreeze in the hall and put notes up on the door regarding trash and being nasty!!

this is not even funny anymore... we received a collections bill in Jan 09... we moved out June 07!!!! i talked to a shirley from the office who said she didn't know why it was sent to collections since she was able to locate our records showing that we did pay our final bill. I thought they had made a mistake because their staff seems to change on a monthly basis... but now that i read these posts i'm beginning to think this is some sort of scam.
