I have lived here for almost a year and will be moving out at the end of my lease. These apartments are a little lower priced than most but honestly in this case you get what you pay for. Also, while the rent is a little lower you get screwed over when it comes to utilities. The utilities here are shared utilities. This means the utility usage of the entire building is divided by apartments which basically means you pay for utilities you may not use. For my 2 bedroom apartment we pay $200 in utilities no matter what we do to conserve which is a rip off. I am moving into a 3 bedroom house where the utilities don't cost as much. Do not ever go in on shared utilities in an apartment complex. Also, part of the reason the utilities are so high is because the buildings are very poorly built with old leaky windows. In the winter when I lay in me bed I feel a cold breeze from the window even when it is closed and locked. I haven't had any rodent or insect problems though.
My other big complaint other than getting ripped off on utilities is how inept the leasing office is. Every person in the office always has a different answer to a question, NOTHING is consistent. Also, in the beginning there were mysterious charges on our bill and these took a lot of aggravation and many calls and visits to the office to get cleared up. I will repeat they are completely inept. If you ever call the office and get Brandon hang up immediately he is the worst of the bunch.
Lastly, Archstone does allow large dogs which is nice however they completely rip you off in pet fees. You pay an initially pet FEE of about $450 and then an extra $30 every month. You will never get any of this back and honestly my dog has not done anything close to $810 worth of damage.

Well as an resident here and me havign two pets I think the charges are complete acceptable. I mean when you mveinto an apartment and the pervious tentants had pets who wants to deal with old pet piss laying on the carpet. It's been 2 years of my living in Archstone and I LOVE IT ... Every apartment has it up's and down's and I think it's funny you only hear the negative and nothing good ... But I would say to all viewer beware that some people have no life and they have no one to vent to and this is their way to vent....
