Good News/Bad News

The good news is location, location, location. No matter where your commute takes you, you couldn't ask for better access to 395 and the beltway. Metro access is a quick bus trip and shopping is plentiful (3 Giant's within a 5 mile radius)

The grounds, appearance and upkeep are excellent. The building design leaves something to be desired (see the bad news). The staff are friendly, but response tends to be slow (see bad news). The apartments are beautiful. The crown moulding and 9' ceilings are excellent. We had a two bedroom/two bath w/ study. Plenty of room and VERY nice layout. The one exception would be the "walk-in" closet in the Master Suite. Unlike the diagram provided, the doors are installed "backward", allowing very little "walk-in" room, and redering almost half of the closet useless.

Also, the apartments were ALMOST soundproof - but be warned, ask for buildings 1, 2 or 3 - NEVER 4. The first three buildings were concrete and steel construction - very soundproof and sturdy. The last building (and the largest), building 4 is wood construction. Even in the first three building there is a little noise if you live under a "stomper," but no noise from adjoining apts or those from below.

The bad news: Design. Parking is under the buildings - nice, but confusing for visitors, especially with the VERY limited number of parking spaces. If you're moving in, beware. Your moving van will go NOWHERE near the elevators so you (or your movers) will have to lug your stuff for what seems like miles - you'll be tired. Trash chutes are sometimes quite a ways from the apartments. There's little or no accomodation for large items of trash.

The management was slow to respond to maintenance items, and often provided a stop-gap solution rather than fixing the problem. Wind would blow the pilot out on our water heater about once a month. Never truely fixed, just re-lit once a month. The pool and fitness center are WAY to small for this size of complex. Several times messages were left for the property manager to contact us on a variety of issues, and no contact was made.

Not a bad place to live - just needs some work on the items mentioned above.
