I've lived here for 6 months so far and I'm really enjoying it. And I know that I can only comment on so much since I've only been here for a short while. So here we go: I live on the 4th floor btw. The roaches, when i first moved in there were some in the kitchen and bathroom. It was weird because i would see them and it was alot (3-4) and then for awhile they would disappear. Now, i have NOT seen a single bug in my apartment for atleast the last 4 months. They are in the hallways. BUT then you can ask anybody, it comes with apartment living. I mention this first because this was the main complaint here. Not saying its ok with the roaches but they will be there wherever it is you move to. Staff ofcourse were super sweet when we were being toured and signed on, not anymore. But hey they still do what they are suppose to do, I've had the repairman here the same day (provided you call early in the AM) to do repairs in my apartment from changing light bulbs to unclogging the tub to fixing the dishwasher. Parking is great, guest parking and getting the pass has not been bad at all. I do have company a lot. Now for big groups I cannot comment. Noise, sure I don't hear my neighbors above but unfortunately I REALLY hear my neighbors beside me and they can get loud. So that sucks. They're not loud all the time thank god. The NEW fitness center is awesome!!! The rec room is great! You can't beat free internet. I'm female and I pretty much live by myself and I have to walk around the parking lot late at night from my car but I've felt safe, so far. Pool is okay. Honestly after I've signed the lease and went on this website, I was freaked out and felt like i made such a horrible decision, but so far its been awesome. I do think the security deposit and pet deposit is too expensive. Besides it is weird when people moan and groan how much this place suck and stay for 3-5 years. When there are alot of other decent & somewhat cheap places to rent. So i'm probably gonna get hell for posting a somewhat positive review. so Flame (me..) ON!

Okay, well I agree with the guest pass comment. Yea the office is only open 6 days a week and for a limited time each day, which can be a PAIN as far as getting guest passes and putting money in your laundry card. I guess I'm in fantasy land because I've worked around it. BUT yes i know its not fair to ask other people to do the same, because there are times you can't, like if you're taking someone home at 6pm. Fortunately i don't have that much people that suddenly show up late at night. So i can make that claim that i have no problems with the parking pass. The management should make it easier for the tenants. Unfortunately they won't be doing that anytime soon, they aren't the nicest or sweetest bunch. Last time I checked they're not interested in taking any suggestions from the tenants. Like I said my comments are limited to what I've experienced I have not seen any roaches in my apartment so I guess i really lucked out BUT like i said there are roaches out in the hallways, so um yea they do exist in the building and probably most of the apartments. I have not seen an old man patrolling here, I've actually seen 2-3 other guys. As far as this rape inside the building. That's horrible & unfortunate. If anyone can tell us more about how and when the intruder came in this happened, I think that would help us all. Oh and when you guys respond ABOUT the apartment building, talk about the apartment don't attack the reviewer

Look ...it's not about attacking anyone. It's about reality. The reality is, given all of the responses, including mine, that one can, and should expect horrible service from management, and also roaches. Now, sure if you are living in the building less than a year, and it's not summer yet, you may be lucky somehow not to have your appartment infested. So, let's be clear, this place is wonderful, for the money, if you plan on leaving shortly after your lease is up. That is if you 1)dont mind having to live in a place/'Hood" where people may not walk around the area (Eg . for a leisurely walk to get some exercise and save on gasoline) without the feeling of playing Russian roulette with their own safety. 2) Dont mind not being able to say for instance, have a guest spend the night after a party without having to be towed because they dont issue parking passes after 6pm. 3) during a time of super high gasoline prices, be at least 2 miles away from the nearest metro subway. 4) Live in a building that is roach infested.

Wow, hearing people say that roaches are wherever you move to is bull, I've have been living in my new apartment by landmark and zero roaches. Poor management at the Aspen is reason enough to move (who wants to butt heads with people who are supposed to make your life more enjoyable while living there), then add the bug infestation (regardless of being the most prevelant on the lower floors, roaches arent afraid of heights you know) and the out dated, JJ walker Good times decor, barely hanging by a thread health code and you have a recipe for a very unpleasant experience. Look around, check out other options, the Aspen isnt the only place that has decent prices for a place. You might have to move further from DC but other places have easier access to metros, safer neighborhood (thats if your worried about senor creepy giving you the stink eye in the section 8 housing around the Aspen), management that actually helps and isnt there to be a big bee-otch like the one at the Aspen because she is unhappy with the fact that in most societies around the world she would still be considered Fugly. There is an underlining theme through out all of the postings and that is the Aspen has a long way to go to be considered a decent place to live. Sadly, the Aspen has left a bad taste in my mouth (could possible be from the roaches ice skating across my dishes in the cupboard while I sleep) or it could be from my broken heart that will never mend due to my advances being spurned by the caliente and oh so delectable Aspen manager who shall I dare say possesses one of the "sexiext belly ponches" that I will never have the joy to rub oh so gently on those cold and lonely autumn nights...sniff....must....be....strong. Seriously, you can do better,
