Although the amount of money I spent paying rent here and utilities could have well been better served with a mortgage, I still have to remark that my time here was a pleasant experience.
The staff is great, the place is clean, rarely did I ever have to call maintenance to fix anything that broke, and the times I did they fixed it IMMEDIATLY, with phone calls to follow up. That is RARE.. I also liked the fact they sold metro fare cards at a discount to tenants.
Reading some of the other peeves on this site, I can say that incidencies of safety were few and far between. Just because you have a gated compound doesn't mean it will prevented unwanted visitors (anyone can get inside just follow a car in). Duh...
The other thing though was the utilities were a bit high, and I felt that some of the agreements should have included some utilities (such as say water which was cheap but a nuisance to pay). Also I live on the 4th floor and it was friggin hotter than hell in the summer, and this murdered my AC usage costs.
A note about the metro blue line and Amtrak trains that go behind the complex. I lived on the top floor and never once did I even hear these trains go past my apartment while I was inside, and I don't think I can even recall hearing them at night either when I slept. They are not an issue.
Compared to other places I've lived in, this place was the best apartment I had. It's also right off a beltway exit which means easy driving out access. But it's also in the middle of nowhere, and there is no sense of community or places to go to by walking. There litteraly is no neighborhood.
Nevertheless, I'll take that 7 minute walk from the metro and getting home from work early while watching the backed up traffic over Woodrow-Wilson bridge ANY day.
good times, a little steep, but no complaints.

You absolutely can hear the trains (depends on where you live - duh!) - forget about getting fresh air and leaving the windows open while you sleep, or should I say lie awake in bed wondering when the hell the damn trains are going to stop!
Discounted metro fares? No one told us when we moved in! What BS - the office staff sucks!
Why is there a gate in this community again? It is always open except when your guests try to come in and the intercom does not work!!!! Whatever gated community.
