My boyfriend and I lived here for 2 1/2 years. We loved the location since it is so close to Old Town and a metro stop. The layouts of the apartments are great (we lived in both a 1 and 2 bedroom), but as things have built up in this area (Starbucks, restaurants, condos, Whole Foods)and rent increased, we decided to go ahead and buy a house. There definitely is noise from both the metro and train tracks plus sirens from being right next to the beltway. You can get used to them (we did), but if you're sensitive to noise, I wouldn't recommend living here. My only real complaint was in moving out. I wanted to warn others to definitely make the effort to be present for the final inspection of the property - we were charged for new carpeting for the entire apartment based on "stains throughout" which could have just been cleaned in normal maintenance. The carpeting did need to be replaced as it was worn when we moved in, but I wish they didn't charge us for their regular maintenance costs. If you have pets, they also only will put $250 out of $500 of your pet deposit towards any damages which is practically stealing from you since you also pay $50/month in pet rent!

Amen! My cat did a tiny bit of damage but seriously...we did pay that extra money in rent BECAUSE OF THE CAT! And, since moving out, we got the notice that we owe more for the new carpet. They sent that letter with a 10 day deadline on it during the holidays when we were out of town for 12 days! So, we got back the day it was due. I paid it two days later and then 3 weeks later, I get a bill from a collections agency saying I didn't pay! I checked the bank, the check hasn't gone thru yet...nice. I handed the check to the person who rented us the apartment. I didn't get a receipt like I should have so when you pay that fee - get a receipt!! It was a pretty nice place to live otherwise. The dogs were kind of annoying though.
