A , I just moved in, and I'm thus far extremely pleased :-)

First of all, I believe that Avalon Court's best assets are the staff. The first time I talked with Aminta on the phone, I sensed her sincerity, she did not make a superfluous sales pitch, she just did her job nicely. When I came to visit, I was "pampered" by her colleagues (Paul and a lady whose name starts with an "L" -- sorry I'm drawing a blank, I just woke up).

The maintenance is fast. I sent a request and it was addressed promptly.

I rented Duke with loft, and I'm absolutely impressed. It might be a bit pricey but this is Northern Virginia and an equivalent layout will cost somewhere in the mid $2K in Courthouse. I love the cathedral (vaulted) ceiling. There's just ample space for a single professional like myself. I'm using the loft as my study and as a spare room for guests.

One thing that I really like with my place are the windows. There's plenty of sunlight, which I need for my houseplants.

One drawback is that my apartment is on the top floor (4th floor). It doesn't have elevator, so moving in (and out) is a serious challenge. But I'm done with that for now. I don't mind the stairs for transporting small stuff like groceries, and I've noticed my legs are getting more muscular with the additional workout offered by the stairs. I particularly requested for a top floor because I don't want hearing foot steps above me.

The business Center is nice and there are computers hooked up to the Internet. You can also bring your laptop and you can get free wireless. The business center is in the same building as the gym, basketball court (half-court), and the swimming pool.

Shuttle is available that will take you to King and Eisenhower metro stations. If you don't mind walking, the closest metro station (Eisenhower) is just a 10 minute leisure walk. The King station (blue) takes me directly to the George Washington University, which is about a 20-minute train ride.

Within walking distance: an IMAX theatre, AMC, restaurants, and so on. The apartment complex is a quick drive to the Old Town district.

The DMV is literally footsteps away -- changing your license and vehicle registation are easy as a pie.

There are many positives to say, but I'll stop here and just enjoy my next several years of stay here. I hope the rent doesn't climb up that much. odusyNYCcZ7yL3Bj5JtG
