My wife and I moved in summer of last year. Residents here brings their dogs into the elevator where the company post a sign saying "No Dogs Allowed in the Elevator". We complained a lot of times, and the leasing office staff including the manager ---------- never took it seriously. Actually they never take your complain seriously, no matter whatever it is. The accesspassword-controled entrance door of my building has been broken for almost three months, I heard people complained in their office, but as of now no one in the office cares.
They will show you their swimming pool and nice entertainment rooms with big TV, what they don't and will never let you know is that: First the pool is open only until 8:00pm when most people just finish their dinner and want to go to the pool; second, their nice entertainment room is closed all the time and only you reserve 24 hours in advance, and the TV is always broken. They said they are fixing it when I move in, and as of today the fixing still has not been done.......
All in all, this is a overcharged property with bad and rude management who lie to their tenants. Oh, by the way, there of course is time when they are so nice to you, that is when you are the first time in their premise to find an apartment.......
Agree with one commentor, don't judge a book by its cover.

I would recommend moving to a community where they don't allow pets if you have such a problem with dogs riding the elevator. Pet owners actually have to pay rent for dogs at Bartons Crossing. I figure if I have to pay $140/month in pet rent, then they are entitled to ride the elevator. FYI: Most apartment finder websites have an option for pet friendly/non pet friendly communities.

Actually, Alexandria code forbids animals in elevators.

I agree with this post. The management people were so nice when I took a tour and filled out the application. When I finally started to move in I was shocked at how rude they were. I just don't understand people like that. To be fair Ron is still friendly, he should teach his employees how to behave.
Also, just a little warning. You can hear every footstep the person upstairs takes. It's going to take some getting used to.
