No good for the money!

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
We lived here for a year and a half. Within the first 6 months, we had a failed heater with a failed smoke detector, bugs on the top floor), several complaints to the office about noise, lied to by the staff, and loittering and smoking in the halls by juveniles, just to name a few. By the time we left, we can add drug use, vehicle breakins, theft, and a massive rent increase.
TO give you an idea on what you face, the windows are not glass, but plastic. Half of them will not close tightly. The sliding doors are glass, but are not sealed at all, so you can feel wind and water seep through them. The worst case of this was a few months back when a rain microburst hit the area around Franconia. We had to put towels around the door and adjacent windows to keep the water leakage down. The carpets were old and damaged. The appliances are at least 10 years old. The kitchen floor tiles were not even glued down. We had electrical work repaired twice within a month on the same light fixture. The smoke detector failed to detect smoke after our heater blew up in February. And it took several hours for a tech to come fix it. We had no heat for half a day. You can hear everything around you from apartments below and next to you. Neighbors, for the most part, are unfriendly and will not say hello to you at all. We were accosted by a man trying to sell us cocaine in the middle of the day.
When we moved in, we were told we were required to provide a picture of our dog, but the lease and pet addendum did not mention this, despite the staff swearing it has in there.
The A/C isn't turned on until May, and the heat until October. So if you need it, you are out of luck.
There is an emergency station, so you will constantly hear police/fire zipping by. Plus, you are along Reagan Airports flight path, so you often hear planes overhead.
By the time we left, the rental office wanted us to pay nearly 1200 dollars for a 1 bedroom 680 sq. ft. apartment. We chose a place 10 minutes away that was larger, friendler, and better in every way, for 200 dollars less than what Beacon Hill wanted.
They have also NOT won any awards for their living experience, that I know of.
Do yourself a favor, unless you want a crappy living experience, avoid this complex. The only good things about this place is it is close to a metro and the staff are usually friendly. Go somewhere else and pay about the same for a better living condition.
