To make a long story short, I visited Belle Haven Towers and at first glance was somewhat pleased with the apartment and staff. Jumping ahead, I plopped downed my deposit and was scheduled to move in on September 30, 2004! Prior to my move in date, I requested to view my apartment but was told that work was still being finished in my unit. i.e. replacing a toilet. On September 30, 2004 I, along with my movers, went to move in..however the unit was already occupied. Let me explain, as I went into the unit to inspect it, (with a leasing agent) I decided to open the closet doors thinking of how I am going to get adjusted to my new apartment. However, the current occupants made their presence know before I could decide where to place what. More to the point, there were ROACHES in what was to be my daughter's bedroom closet! Funny, after I notice the loving couple, I started to go through all of the closet throughout the apartment! There, I found the ROACH FAMILY REUNION! I AM NOT KIDDING, THERE WERE ROACHES EVERYWHERE. You name it, they were there (kitchen, on the living room walls, bathroom, etc.) I was livid to say the least! I asked how in the heck was I supposed to move in an apartment that was invested with roaches! Oh, how they tried to dance and stated that they just bombed (mind you) the apartment and that the roaches would die in a couple of days. Huh'Are you serious, is what I asked' Were you in the apartment when they bombed, therefore your mental capacity went up in the air as well"' Even the lead maintenance personnel, shook his head, laughed and said, "no way" as he wiped the reminisce of roach spray of the wall! (His name was Abu! Yeah, that is how clearly I remember!) I came to the realization that during my prior visit, when I wanted to view my unit, this is what they were doing! (bombing my apartment with raid! Not even a freaking professional pest control company..they used store-bought products for a massive infestation!) Did I mention that the prior tenants (humans)moved out a month before the apartment went on the market' To make a long story short, I had to go all the way to the top (the President of their management company..he was a nasty little monkey! Until, I stated I know my VA Landloard/Tenants rights!) to get my monies back! They did not want to pay for my movers because I did not take their offer. Guess what that entailed, they wanted me to move my belongings in two units on the 4th and 9th floors) and live in a one bedroom apartment until another two bedroom, one and a half bath became available! The gull! I was so heated and dishearted, never mind the fact that I had given up my former apartment, the movers are waiting for me with all of my belongings, placed a changed of address via the post office, had my phone transferred, etc! Of course I got the famous, "this has never happened before" line. Well that makes us two peas in a pod, is what I stated! Oh, they also offered me another apartment that costed more and I still had to apply! (no, I am not kidding!) A few weeks down the road, I bumped into an old friend from college. We got to chatting and I told him of my experience. Well I started to because as soon as I mentioned the aforementioned apartment complex..he shared a story of his own, only this time..his unit was flooded! Now, again, this is a TRUE STORY..and if you do decide to move in there..mark my words and remember reading this review! Please, even though I don't know you, don't do this to yourself!
