I moved into BHT last September (2004) and i have no complaints whatsoever. The office people are friendly and bend over backwards to help you. THe maintenance people are friendly and come quickly when you have a problem. I'm extremely satisfied with my apartment. I haven't had any roaches, so i don't know where exactly the previous reviewers have gone. No one in my building has had any either, so i wouldn't pay attention to those reviews. The only real problem i have is parking. I work until late at night and i have to park a little ways away from my building, but it's good exercise for those who have to sit behind a computer all day. The people/neighbors are nice and the landscaping is great. When my lease comes up for renewal, if i can, i want to stay here. For the price, it's a wonderful place to live. I might even upgrade to a two bedroom if i can. Way to go, BHT!!

Honestly this sounds like a review from one of the managment staff. BHT is a decent apartment, but in no way merits a 5.0 and a glowing review.

I live in building 6034, and I'll agree that I've never seen a roach in the 2 and a half years I've lived here. Other buildings seem to have problems though.

My building (and most of the ones I've seen) suffers a bit from the wear and tear of age. Nothing is particularly bad, but carpets/flooring etc. show a bit of age in the elevators/halls/rooms.

The scenery and view from my 9th floor window leave a lot to be desired. Ground keeping is adequate, but the neighborhood is definitely a transitional zone between urban and suburban areas. It's a bit of an urban blight. Run down hotels and low-income housing surround the area. I've never had a problem with crime, but it definitely exists. Crime seems to increase the closer you get to Fort Belvoir (perhaps excluding the charming Mount Vernon neighborhoods).

Staff is friendly and maintanence is ok. I did have a maintenance worker pop open my lock (without bothering to knock) and step inside my apartment one weekday morning when I was late for work and waking up. That was quite a shock and not appreciated (My unit does not have a deadbolt lock).

All in all, it's an average high rise apartment with few frills. It's decent for a young professional like myself who is new to the area; but eventually you will want to move on.

I'll be moving to a better apartment in Fairfax next month.
