Not bad, but could be better.

Since I've used this site as a reference multiple times when changing apartments, I figured I should post a comment regarding Belle Haven Towers, where I have lived for two years.
I'm a single twenty-something professional who moved to BHT after acquiring a stressful job in Washington DC. I would work about 60 hours week, and I needed an apartment basically to sleep and shower in.
I rented the smallest studio, and it suited my needs well. I didn't need anything special, since I was working constantly. The metro is about a 10 minute walk through a park, which gave me easy access to downtown.
I've since acquired a job in Fairfax, which is not nearly as stressful. It leaves me a lot more free time, and my apartment isn't as good a fit now. For that and other reason, I'll be moving at the end of my current lease (about a month).
Here's a rundown of the categories:
Parking:
Quite good here. In two years, I've never seen every parking space full. If you come home late at night, you may have to walk a few hundred feet, but there will always be a spot.
Noise:
Pretty good. No complaints above what's a normal level for an apartment. It seems to be mostly single professionals, some older couples and ethnic families with younger children that live here. All things considered, pretty peaceful tenants.
Grounds:
Blah. Nothing special at all. It's an urban setting with high rise buildings and parking lots. I give them credit for keeping up the plants and grass, but it's an uninspiring setting.
Safety:
The surrounding area is a rough neighborhood. However, I have not known of any problems on the BHT complex itself. Since it is mostly working families who live here, I don't think there's any criminal element who lives here. Also, the complex is set back from the road, so there's no real reason for criminal activity to travel up into the complex.
Construction:
An older high-rise (1960's is my guess) and it shows. I lived in the 6038 building, which is a bit worn. Other buildings might be different.
Maintenance:
Hit or miss for me. Some requests have been answered the same day with no problems at all. Others have taken a few days, and one problem in particular was not fixed after multiple visits.
Office Staff:
The people I've met have been genuinely nice. They try hard, but they won't necessarily go out of the way for you.
Overall, I'd recommend this place if you don't need anything fancy. If you're a workaholic who's never home, for example, you can do a lot worse than BHT.
