Belle Haven Towers

Pretty Good Value From: beachbumltj Date posted: 12/11/2007 Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007   I found these reviews really helpful when I was looking for apartments 6 months ago, so thought I'd return the favor. As far as apartments in the DC area goes, I think Belle Haven is a decent value. Walls seem to be pretty thick, doors are not. The only time I ever really hear any outside noise is in the hallway or when the guy across the hall screams at his video games at the top of his lungs. What little noise does come in from the hall though seems to be limited to the day. Apartments are nothing special, but they're clean and spacious. In the 6 months I've been here, I've seen exactly 2 roaches. My friends in the basement have seen many more and my friends on the 4th floor haven't seen a single one (I'm on the 2nd floor). Stay out of the basement and you won't have any roach problems. I've only had two minor maintenance issues and they were both fixed within a day. Plenty of washers and dryers in each building. The staff is really friendly (except the old white lady) and they actually do seem to care (or they're at least really good at faking it). There's no assigned parking, but I've never had a problem finding a spot. No covered parking, unfortunately, but that seems to be the norm. It's a 10 minute walk to the metro (Huntington) from door to door. As far as the grounds go, it's also nothing special but they do keep it up well. In the summer the pool was scrubbed every week (as in I actually saw someone in the pool with a brush scrubbing the walls). Lots of little things like that seem to indicate that they're trying to keep the complex nice instead of waiting til things fall apart to fix them. My biggest complaints are the hyper-sensitive stove controls, the early 80's decor of the bathroom and the funny smell that persists in the elevator. Not exactly deal-busters... If you're looking for a nice apartment for a reasonable price, I'd recommend Belle Haven. I've already done so to a couple friends.
