I lived at Brookdale for 6 months-when I found someone to take over my lease. The first night I moved in, I saw people lurking in the parking lot and staring into people's cars. Then, they started trying doors to see if any were unlocked. I saw people trying to stare into my windows-note: do not rent a first floor unit. The laundry area was creepy and scary--so much so that I was afraid to go to this area alone. I started doing laundry at my boyfriend's place instead. Several times a group of teenagers stood in front of my car when I was driving from my apartment towards Beauregard Street. Traffic by the apartment in the morning is awful because of the elementary school nearby and kids use the netless tennis court as a soccer field. Several times I came home to find police cars in front of my home. My closet doors fell off 3 times, once preventing me from opening my bedroom door.

A few positive notes: Maintenance was very good. The appliances were relatively new and the kitchen was nice. Good price, not a bad location and it was very quiet. Also, there is a shuttle to the Metro and sometimes free cookies or candy at the leasing office.

Glad I got the hell out.

P.S. There were also way too many screaming kids.
