Started renting in 2006, we loved Brookville. Yeah, the townhomes are tiny but we made do. It was worth moving from somewhere we didn't feel safe to somewhere that felt quiet and peaceful even though we were right next to Van Dorn St and 395...
During our first year, we found out how much the windows and doors LEAKED air.. $250 electric bills in the summer and $200 gas bills in the winter (with plastic over the windows). Rent was raised $35 for our 2nd year but we still felt like Brookville was worth it.
Our second year, we had a few maintenance problems - AC broke down during the summer, we had some drains clog up, nothing too major and it was all handled promptly. Rent was raised another $50 for our 3rd year and we started feeling it.
During our third year, we had three towing incidents for inane things. We lost all the trees in the courtyard that made the place feel like it was away from the interstate. We're still paying massive amounts of money for utilities, and in this economy, well, they've raised rent another $50. Add up rent and utilites and you'll be paying over $2000 a month.. It seems like the place is getting less valuable and they keep wanting to charge more - It's not worth it anymore, so we are leaving when our lease is up.

I feel the same way. $1600 for rent alone is insane. We do the plastic over the windows and still have outrageous bills too. For what you get/don't get, it's FAR to expensive. Brookville just isnt' worth it. We're leaving too.

I agree 100%. Brookville is not worth the money that they charge. We've lived here since Aug '05 and will be leaving before the summer. It's just not worth the hassle you get everywhere you turn. It's just not what it used to be.

I was told when they first raised my rent that it was only 5% more but when I calculated it, it was 6% that they raised my rent. When I brought this up they said my rent should go down this year and so I never brought it up again, if that doesn't happen, I'm leaving.

We just received notification that our rent is going up $100 this year. We have been here for almost three years, and although we like the surrounding neighborhood and the sometimes peace and quiet here, it is getting a bit much to accept. Plus, they charge a ridiculous $30 monthly pet fee, and we have an indoor-only cat. We'll likely be looking to move out soon as well.
