Carmel Alexandria (Formerly The Linc)

 
I've lived here now for 3 years, and have seen all the changes the building has gone through from the old management to Carmel. While we have lost the pool table, we just got a new computer center and the building got a much needed facelift (paint and new furniture.)I've seen the rent rocket though. I used to pay $1365 for my one bedroom den, now its $1495/month my utilities (around $45) The building has a nice gym, pool and parking garage. Although there are not many playgrounds or parks around which I feel kind of bad about for kids.

The best thing about the building are the residents and the office staff. The residents are very professional and its so quiet on the evenings. I like the 2 managers in the office; It sounds lame but I actually trust them to enter my apt and put packages in there (lived in places I didn't)

The things I like least are the location. We're right next to a 7-11 that I feel always draws a sketchy crowd and there's not much else within walking distance. A lot of residents in the building also walk their dogs off lease outside so I feel like the courtyard (my view) can get a little crazy sometimes.

All in all though- I won't be leaving anytime soon unless work moves me again. It's hard to find a pleasant place to live in the DC area that doens't nickel and dime you for an extra key.
