Years at this apartment: 1999 - 2001

I have lived in the Cascade for two years recently. In April of 2001 we had found quite a few reasons to move out.
First of all: The location is great, so are the apartments and amenities.
The problem: Tenants were treated like prison inmates by the management. It really got out of hand in July 2000.
On a regular basis, the manangement would threaten all tenants with late fees for electric bills which nobody had received yet. The people in the management office also loved 30-day-notices. I received one after a "reliable source" had reported to them that I had walked my (very friendly and little) dog without leash. A former neighbor received a 30-day-notice when he failed to pay the enormous amount of 8 (eight) dollars from one of the bills he had received. Another neighbor even received two 30-day-notices when the rent he payed was credited to a different account twice in a row. Nobody ever apologized to him.
Pet owners were also threatened on a regular basis. In letters they asked renters to become "pet busters" by spying on their neighbors and reporting anyone who would not clean up after his or her pet.
At the same time, the management seldomly took care of problems like noise. Two neighbors of mine, who kept on causing a lot of noise 24/7 and who threatened us when we complained directly, were finally evicted, after they attacked each other (while one of them had a gun in his hand). When they were finally gone, there was more noise during the night, we were woken up between midnight and 4 a.m. many times. In this case, the management refused to do anything about it. Other tenants complained as well, but the management kept on telling me I was the only one.
Also they loved to tow cars away from the parking lot in front of the building.
Maintenance- and frontdesk-employees at the Cascade At Landmark were treated even worse than tenants. They were not allowed to even talk to tenants the managemt had problems with (I was one of them because I kept on complaining). A "rental consultant", who still works at the Cascade, once shouted at a maintenance technician. She kept on asking him "Who did you just talk to'" when I was only a few feet away. Of course, he was too polite to answer while I listened to that interrogation.
While the management was busy writing those 30-day notices and threats they loved so much, they also failed to keep the place clean. Trash in the aisles would sometimes be cleaned away after 5 days. The tennis court was not cleaned for two full years, it was covered with dirt.
I could write a whole book about annoyments and scandals I experienced in the Cascade At Landmark. With a proper management, it would have been a pretty good place.
