First of all, I'd like to say that the reviews defending Cascade are most likely written by the management staff. From my experience with them I would not put it past them and I cannot see how anyone could have something nice to say about this place.

Like others have mentioned here, I have been served with numerous eviction notices, and I have seen people in the lobby arguing with the management about false notices they have recieved. The maintanence workers have come into my apartment on at LEAST 6 occasions with no notice (or valid reason), at times when I normally would be at work. I have tried to report this repeatedly to the regional office;

...but to no avail, they only say that someone will call back and they never have (I've called them about 4 times). It took them a week to fix my air conditioner, they told me they didn't need to fix it immediately unless it was over 95 degrees. It was about 90 degrees outside. The hallways stink very badly, and I don't think I've had a guest yet who hasn't commented on it. Sometimes you have to wait about 5 minutes to catch the elevator up, and for some strange reason it likes to stop at the 9th floor for no reason. When I moved in the carpet was dirty and someone's socks were on the side of the washer still. The washer has ruined alot of my clothes (strange black spots) and the dryer has needed to be fixed twice this year. It also looks like they painted over the dirt on the walls.

I thought that I might move out a few days early due to work (I travel overseas for gov). I mentioned to the [3rd manager I've seen there in my year living there] who I will call "J" that I might do this and she said that I would have to pay a 2-month penalty. I made sure she understood that it was only about 2 weeks till the end of my lease and that I didn't expect pro-rated rent but she stated that early departure requires the 2-month penalty. Realizing that it would be assinine to do that, I told her nevermind and left. 60 days later (about the 15th of my last month) while I was at work, a maintanence worker "B" walked into my apartment when my girlfriend was sleeping, woke her up, and told her that he was there to check the apartment cos we were supposed to be move out. Needless to say, I was very pissed. I called J and she she told me that I agreed to move out that day and that I was to pay only a $200 fee for leaving early. She mentioned that she was doing me a favor by not charging me $200 and not the 2-month penalty because she had people moving in next week. I told her that there was no way that was going to happen cos my lease wasn't up for another 15 days and that I paid for the entire month, and she said that she was going to have the locks changed when I was out and that I "was to call the future tenants and tell them why they can't move in next week." I immediately called a landlord-tenant lawyer and he told me to stay for the entire month and call him if they attempted anything. For the next two weeks my girlfriend (who lives with me) has been scared that someone will walk in on her and I've have to wonder if my key will work everytime I come home.

Today I moved out and B has been hassling me and asking me dumb questions all day. Even though it is his day off he finds it necessary to watch the cameras and he even sent a security guard to harass me for not taking my small area rugs down the service elevator.

Since I was unable file a complaint with Equity Residential, I'm calling back that landlord-tenant lawyer and suing them for illegal entry and attempted fraud (for that bogus $200 fee). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU STAY AWAY FROM CASCADE AT LANDMARK, the upper level staff are horrible and and it overpriced for what it is.
