My budget allowed for $1200 of rent. I was supposed to move into an A-model however it was not ready at the time of move-in because the resident had to stay longer. Instead the offered me a G-model with a den. I ended up getting an apt. with an extra 300squared feet for the same price($1,165). I visited over 12apts. before choosing Cascade at Landmark.
PROS:
The gym has plenty of equipment which is a big plus with me- free weights, tread mills, all body muscle machines, benches, bikes, and steps. It is usually empty even in the morning. Secured garage parking and reliable management. Amenities= business room, internet room, BBQ area, saunas in gym bathrooms, tennis court which nobody uses. Big mail packages can be picked up from the 24/7 concierge instead of leaving it on your front door where anybody can steal your package. Maintenance is complaint and responds pretty fast. I rarely hear anything through the walls since they are so thick. FOB(electric key) is required to enter the building other than through front entrance and even the front entrance goes on lock down at night. Quiet residents- I've yet to encounter any rude residents or any anti-Americans as I've seen in a lot of these D.C. areas. As a former Marine, this would cause me to loose my mind.
CONS:
Hallway floors could use a new carpet,walls-a coat of paint, framed paintings, and apts. could use better looking doors. The washer and dryer are pretty small. If this was to be completed they could easily bump up the rent by $250. The garage parking is meant for small to medium vehicles. But these are all minor discrepancies. My theory is "if I don't live in that specific area, it does not bother me".
