I have lived at Caylor Gardens for over 3 years and just recently put in my notice to vacate because I am buying a home. When I first moved in, the management staff was friendly and responsive. It seems that management has changed several times in the last 1-2 years and it hasn't been for the better. There isn't a maintenance emergency # to call and no one is EVER there to answer the phone. I recently left 3 messages that I was having hot water problems and no one ever called me or acknowledged the problem. My hot water still isn't fixed so I've been stuck taking cold showers every morning. It's ridiculous. When you do get someone on the phone, it's a woman who occassionally works in the office and has a major attitude. She seems to only be there to collect rent and doesn't really care about the tenants.
I have also had roach & mice problems. I think it's typical though of older buildings and there is only so much you can do.
I agree with the previous reviewer that they seem to be allowing just about anyone to live there. I don't think there is any "screening" whatsoever. Every night when I come home from work, there are at least 5-10 guys hanging out at the back of the building who whistle at me or stop their conversation and blatantly stare at me as I walk by. Not the best thing to come home to at the end of the day. Being a single woman, this is very unsettling. It makes me incredibly uncomfortable and I will intentionally park in a different area to avoid walking by these guys.
The only good thing about this place is the location. You can't beat it. It's also one of the very few apartment complexes in Del Ray.
I would never recommend this place (as of right now) to anyone who I care about. They have some serious changes they need to make.
