For all of the bogus reports coming in with "5.0" ratings claiming the nice amentities and professional staff, let me say this AGAIN to you: A woman was MURDERED brutally in her apt in Fall 2008. See previous posts. Someone entered her apartment and pulled a "Dexter". The detectives on the scene could only describe the manner of death as "horrific"
Who cares about gyms, swimming pools, on-site convenience stores and day care centers if your big rent check will only get you dismembered in your own apartment. If a swimming pool is more important to you than not ending up chopped up in garbage bags by some "Dexter" type individual roaming the halls, than this IS the place for you.
I used to live there (moved out Summer of 2007) and for the same money was able to move into the Crystal City area: In the time I've been here, we have not had any "on-site" murders. For all of you believing this type of crime (happening this frequently) is "just a way of life": Please stop being stuck in the mental "ghetto" and realize the world holds much better options for you. You are being USED by the management and mistreated because you are ALLOWING it.

This is by far one of the most UNSAFE complexes and biggest rip-offs you will ever find in Alexandria. I moved out of this place about a year and a half ago because of the terrible safety problems and bad customer service. Several cops live in the complex and it has NO affect on the crime going on. In the 2 years I lived there:
- A shooting occurred in one of the buildings a month after I moved in.
- The apartment complex got in trouble with the fire marshal and health department
- The on-site convenience store got robbed multiple times
- Car break-ins left and right
- The locks on the doors "securing" the buildings were broken 90% of the time: People regularly walk in from off the street and wander the buildings
- Came home to find the front glass door of 200 S. Van Dorn building shattered by a .38 round
- No ID checks for the shuttle bus users: Poorly behaved people from "down the street" routinely overcrowd the bus and create disturbances...bus driver and complex do nothing about it
- Constant noise complaints to the police: Loud "block party" style get-togethers occur regularly in the building
Management doesn't care one way or the other about the safety of the people on the complex. Their response is generally the following: Not our problem.
You can live on Benning Road SE and put up with less drama/crime. POTENTIAL TENANTS - the beautiful grounds are there to distract you from what you're about to move into: an over-priced slum. They may advertise affordable "luxury," but if I were you, I wouldn't move here unless you are hoping to become better acquainted with Alexandria's Homicide and Vice squads. If you are thinking about moving here, DON'T. If you live here currently, break you lease and MOVE. It's not worth it.

Police Find Murdered Alexandria Woman's Car
Last Edited: Thursday, 04 Dec 2008, 6:35 PM EST

Police say they've found the car that belonged to 24-year-old Juantissa Hill, but they're being fairly tight-lipped about the investigation into her death.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Police say they've recovered the vehicle belonging to an Alexandria woman who was murdered in her apartment, but they're not saying where it was found.
Juantissa Hill was a mere 24 years old. She was in the military. But somehow, she died a horrible death in her Van Dorn Street apartment.
"Because the investigation is ongoing, we're only saying it was a violent death, and as you know, it was classified as a homicide," said Dep. Chief Blaine Corle of the Alexandria Police Department.
Investigators are remaining fairly tight-lipped about the facts of the case, divulging that they have recovered the victim's vehicle, a 2006 gray Nissan Altima with Michigan plates but they're refusing to say where it was found.
"We're not certain what part the location may play in the investigation, so it's something we're going to keep close to the vest for now," said Corle.
That leaves residents of the building where Juantissa Hill was killed nervous and concerned about their own lives and wishing there was more security and better lighting in the area, especially in the parking lots.
"Especially in the back there, because there are areas that are very poorly lit," said Stephanie Crimarco, who lives in the area. "It would be easy for someone to couch and hide."
Police aren't saying whether Hill's death was the result of a burglary, or whether there were signs of forced entry. Some building residents suspect she may have known her killer.
"It could be a lot of things, you know," said Richard Dawson. "She's in the service, and if it's not a break-in, then nine times out of 10 it's somebody she knows."
A spokeswoman for EOS 21 Management called the murder tragic. She says they double-checked the locks on all the building doors and found them to be operational. She also says a letter is going out to residents today to let them know police are conducting an investigation.
Police want to hear from anyone who may have information about Juantissa Hill's whereabouts in the final days before she died. Anyone with information should call the Alexandria Police Department.

many things have improve since 8/2005. new carpets in the hallway.most entry way doors are locked. however the apartments are not worth the money.the rents are increasing every year. my rent for a two bedroom is now $1530. you cant use the pools-the live gaurds treat you like a criminal if you dere to enter without a pool pass or loose the pass you had.one afternoon i took my 3yr old son to the pool area. just to sit by the pool and look out, mind you i didn't want to swim.up came these russian livegaurds demanding i leave the area.i'm the one thats paying the rent to this community,i cant even sit by the pool with my son.there's always roaches in the apartments, and the pest control guy that comes by to supposedly take care of them just sprays in yoyr kitchen and leaves.like roaches just live in the kitchen.they put bait in your food cupboard and dishes cupboard ensuring that the roaches get to your food and dishes, then run to the bedrooms and bathrooms to increase their family.the toilets always needs repairs.the garbage disposals needs help every 2 weeks.i can go on and on,i'm just to tired..just gonna leave.

I am not at all surprised there has finally been a murder in this complex, and am so very grateful for having moved out a year ago.
I can't believe how bold faced this complex will lie in the face of such a terribly tradgedy, about their "secure" doors functioning.....in 5 years one or all locked doors were always broken out because you have immigrants living there with more than the leased occupants, meaning they have no keys, hence the doors get broken so that they can get back in!
EOS/Buzzuto get a FREAKIN clue will you you are now costing people thier LIVES no amount of rent is worth someone's life!

I'm not surprised at all. As I've stated in a previous post, I know a convicted murderer who lives there. Didn't know until I had him arrested for domestic assault. They will let anyone rent there....as long as the check clears.

Not a surprise; it was only a matter of time until the in house burglaries escalated until something more. So sorry; so glad I moved a year ago; maybe now the City and the authorities will finally take a good look at the owner and management of this complex and do something about it for those who still live there. All they care about is money; and now they have blood on their hands...

I wasn't at all surprised, it happened in the building right next door to mine. A couple of months ago there was a drug raid in my building. I am moving out this week and cannot wait. They wanted me to pay almost $3,000 for breaking my lease but I called the health department to inspect my apartment for mold to prove that part of my move was based on health. The health department came and proved that mold exists in large amounts so now I am battling with them to get out of paying that large fee.

Guys, let's be real, how is it the actual apartments fault that someone was murdered. No one from the office went there to kill anyone. One of you mentioned the "immagrants" that live on property. That was pretty rude and low, I have seem people yank the door open from a drunken night at the bar or to avoid a lock out fee. I have lived her for two years and when ever I needed them THE ACTUAL OFFICE, the ones who you guys are blaming, try their best to assist. It is the murderer who is to blame not the office, it is our neighbors who are inconsiderate and yank the door open. It comes a time that you guys who are blaming the office ask yourselves what are you doing to protect your neighborhood and your home? By the way, did you hear that they caught the guy and oh yeah, HE DOESN'T WORK AT EOS-21!!!!

Dear Alexandria Renter2005,
You are correct that a person will killed at Eos 21. Alexandria Police tell us that an individual has been indicted on the death of the resident. This individual is currently incarcerated in another state on separate charges.
While the authorities have not given us any details, they have assured us that the incident was not a random act and there was no evidence of forced entry into the building or into the residents apartment.
This is a very unfortunate situation and our thoughts are with her friends and family during these difficult times.
Despite the fact that this was an isolated incident and not a random act, we continue to encourage you to take the appropriate safety precautions, which include being extra diligent regarding whom you invite into your home.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me at jcrick@bozzuto.com.
Sincerely,
JOe Crick, General Manager

The very articles you have linked to regarding the murder show that it had nothing to do with where she lived... her car was found AWAY from the apartment building, obviously she came home with someone else. If the incident had anything to do with the building or the building's location, her car would have been there. This was a tragic incident, but those of us living in Eos and everyone else should be aware that it could have happened anywhere. As with many of these cases, it is someone the person knew or met, not someone lurking in their apartment.
