Life in the big City

I've lived here for a year and a half and am 50/50 on this place.
In my opinion, you have to use common sense and realize where you are renting- 10 minutes from the city. The class of people(and their associated lifestyle), noise, crime, etc are going to come with the territory if you want to live in a metropolitan area. Want peace, tranquility(and a 2 hour commute)move to the country.
If you're young or want a cheap decent place to live I would recomend this place.
They didn't take a security deposit when I moved in and though I wasn't happy that they charge hundreds more to go month-to month- they did give me a rent break for the first 2 months of my new lease(worked out to a free month)and gas & electric are included.
One problem I wish they would address is having a stronger security presence at the complex. From Joe Crick's postings,I guess they are trying to address alot of the problems which is better than some places I've been at (time will tell I guess).

Sorry you are going to a lot of troubles, but there is nothing you cannot discuss with the management. There are some dog feces because you cannot teach people to be clean. However the maintenance staff cleans the feces, specially if you complain. I have been living 10 years in the same place, and I never had a problem that has not been solved. There is not crime rate on Eos 21. You just have been told to write this review by people who have to be anonymous because they dare not use their own name to lie.

Actually, I'm a former resident of EOS 21 and the original post is pretty accurate. I left at the beginning of 2008 and am happy for doing so. The parking situation is pretty bad, and there were issues with the door and trash. I'm quite happy that I left EOS. Honestly though, EOS will do whatever they think they can get away with. It cost money for them to offer a decent level of service, but cheaper for them to build a nice lobby with plasma screens and sit in front of a computer and monitor these sites everyday. It's up to you guys to explain to EOS that the consumer is the one that pays their bills. Best way you can do it is to relocate to a much cleaner, more competitive rental. There are plenty of them out there.

This place is absolutely ridiculous. I moved out of here about 1 year ago and couldn't wait until my lease was up. I found a pile of fecal material in one of the trash rooms (don't know if it was animal or human) and also came home one night to find what appeared to be blood smeared all over the lobby door to my building. I called numerous times to have the blood and poop cleaned up but it took management or facilities 6 days to take care of this! I just hope I didn't contract some sort of disease from all this when I was living there.

The original poster didn't mention that although you can ask about the crime rate, as I did, the management will lie and say that they don't have statistics, or tell you to contact the police department and get the info from them. No way are they going to be truthful about all the crime here to prospective tenants.

This is a prime example of the reason I posted on this site. The picture this person attached isn't a picture of the property. How sad your hobby is being negative. Also why post anonymous? Are you hiding the fact that you keep posting over and over again. I notice all the positive reviews have user names and the negative posts are anonymous hmmmmmm

I have lived there 23 months and CAN'T WAIT to move out! This morning there was a huge pile of dog crap in the area underneath the stairway and a mouse ran accross my bedroom in the morning. The rent is too high for what you are getting!

Jen want to know why they don't want to put their names up before they vacate? They don't want to be identified and then penalized at move out time for their deposit! I am a former resident who lived there 5 years and to begin with the place was quiet, comfortable and reasonable for the area, I mean utilities included is fairly unheard of in Alexandria these days, but over the 5 yr.s 3 management companies and three names later the place became a pest infested hellhole. I was glad to get out and the same month I did at least 6 other tenants went with me! The pictures up are representative of what I left behind, pleasant facades for the sake of the web site and pamphlets and in reality in the buildings it's cheap paint peeling off everywhere and ugly capeting. Not to mention silverfish running around the Central Air/Heat registers, roaches in the bathroom and kitchen...security doors that are never secure because they've been broken and parking highly skewed to the favor of the condo folks most of whom weren't even using a third of the spaces alotted to them.
Joe Crick, you sound like you want the company to do better and I wish you luck in that, but I have to say that unless things radically changed in a year (which I highly DOUBT) then all the negatives that are said here (and are promptly challenged immediately by suspect posters) are ONE HUNDRED AND TEN PERCENT TRUE!!! may future renters beware!
