I've been living at EOS 21 for about 6 months now, and the unit itself if decent. The walls have a weird texture to them, and the kitchen and baths are far from high-quality. There's a weird heating/cooling dual unit that runs along the entire apartment, hanging from the ceiling, and the fireplace has an odd, useless metal sheet sticking out covering the piping vent. All very odd, but overall not too big a problem. Two beds and two baths, plenty of room, a balcony, a dish washer, free heat & A/C plus a gas fireplace makes the unit not too shabby.

The complaints, however, come out fast. Aside from the unit itself being loosely based off the very pampered models (which don't have the weird textured walls, ugly kitchen tile or poorly handled carpets, fireplace and baths), the complaints are: parking, maintenance and staff.

First: parking. If you're not handicapped, you may spend upwards of 30 minutes looking for a spot on a weekday night at 11pm. You may even end up parking on the opposite side of the complex, adding an extra 10 minute walk back to your unit. Better not have multiple trips, or heaven forbid groceries! They now offer some "tandem" spots for an extra $10-$20 per month, where you park one car in front of the other. But if you have guests over, they still won't let them park in the spots you paid for! They have to park in the VERY FEW guest spots, which are generally filled with people who live at the complex anyway! (What's the point then') And if you were misinformed about visitor parking when you moved in, you're sure to get towed at $125 a pop. It's happened to my company TWICE in less than 6 months.

The maintenance is a joke. Three times now the elevator has broken down in my building and needed to be repaired. When you live on the 5th floor, and have laundry rooms on the first, and need to grocery shop, this (along with parking) only adds to the frustration. The call box to buzz visitors in doesn't have the correct number in it (after 13 - yes, THIRTEEN - requests to the staff to fix it, they still haven't). The A/C wasn't turned on until after the first 95 degree heat wave of the season. The second pool in the complex got torn up 1 week before it was supposed to open (and it's "repairs" are no where in sight). Finally, we (my roommate and I) sometimes come back to find notes stuck in our doors, warning us that we'll have repair men coming on some date, never to show. A day later we'll get a note saying they rescheduled, and we'll have to empty our cabinets AGAIN so they can "mouse-proof" it on the new date, or move our beds AGAIN so they can get to the A/C units, or some other reason. What a pain, just so they can "fix" things (without ever actually doing anything) multiple times! Also, the washer/dryer units on the first floor' About 1/2 ever work, even after they were down for 3 days being "fixed."

Finally, the staff. I've seen 2nd graders with more organizational skills. Some members of the staff sometimes come through, but for the most part it's like a bunch of idiots playing pin-the-bill on the tenant. There has only ever been ONE service request I filed which got fixed, and that was a day later. The call box number mistake hasn't been successful in over a dozen attempts. The parking complaints fall on deaf ears, the pool, washer/dryer and elevator get mindless shrugs. It's like they want to be fired, except no one will do it. I wish they'd fire them all and start from scratch. It may be OK to keep one or two who have come through sometimes, but even them I wouldn't mind seeing the boot. (Coming through 25% of the time isn't good enough.)

Overall I cannot recommend EOS 21. The only good things are the things we make pleasant. Drinking coffee in the morning on the balcony, or watching a movie in the living room with pop-corn under a blanket. But these are no thanks to EOS. And for those reasons, I've got to suggest going elsewhere.
