I want to start out by saying this was not a bad first apartment but I wish I had known these things before I moved in.
When you first see the apartment it is new and clean and empty. Then try moving your furniture in. As a previous post said there is only room for a queen bed in the Master Bedroom and barely enough room for a Full Bed in the second bedroom. And don't even get me started on the living room. We had made a few friends in the complex and we were able to see a few different ways the living room was set up. There was never a good place for the couch. We had considered throwing out our couch and getting a giant bean bag for the center of the room.
The utilities are included in the rent but that is not as great as it seems. During the winter it is very hot. We actually slept with the windows open and the heat as far down as we could get it. There is one main boiler for the building so there really is no way to turn off the heat.
Also you can hear every noise in the stairways in your apartment. I never really heard my neighbors except when they were coming or going. This is increasingly annoying when there is a 3 year old in the building that insists on screaming as they walk up and down each stair.
The community is nice but they have very odd rules. Such as no playing on the grass. There is not much grass but really actually having a rule against playing in the grass. Another rule is "no walking pets." No one seems to know what a walking pet is, to some it is nothing that goes on the grass, others say no cats or dogs and others go as far as to say nothing with legs. So I guess you can have a 10 ft snake because it has no legs. The "no walking pets" is actually written in the lease. By the way you may want to pay close attention to the lease since it is only one page and really does not have all of the information in it.
The parking is odd as well, no guests after midnight and they gave us grief when we bought a new car and needed an additional parking pass for a few days while we waited for the plates but other apartments had 3 or more permits.
Also there are speed bumps in the parking lot which did not bother me but when they had the parking lot repaved they put in new speed bumps. There is one specific speed bump that no matter how you drive over it, it will scrap the bottom of your car. You can see the grooves on the speed bump itself.
Edlandria also backs up to another property, South Port. Be prepared to see fire trucks and ambulances come through the parking lot every other day because the two parking lots are connected.
Last but not least they charged us to remove something from the apartment which they never removed.

I had some of the same problems! We have smaller rooms in our new place here than at the old building (6186). My roommate has a queen bed in the non-master bedroom, and he has just enough space to walk around it. Neither of us spend a ton of time in this apartment, though, as we're both working adults.
I'm also a big animal person, so I asked a lot of specifics about the pet rule. As far as my understanding goes is, it's no uncaged pets. I have all caged animals (fish, birds, etc.), and asked management about each of them before moving in. All were oked. I think it applies to just those pets that might need to be 'walked,' or let out, like cats and dogs. Not sure for their reasons, though (afraid of those few irresponsible owners who don't curb their pets, maybe?), and I'm not sure if that rule comes from the local management, or the property management (Dittmar).

Whoever you are you are truly ignorant. There is a no pet policy so you don't have noise, unhealthy feces all over the property, and destruction of the interiors of the apartments. Pets are a nuisance in most small apartments, and most owners work all day and neglect their pets. I am a night worker and I can tell you that puppies bark all day when left alone. If you want pets, rent a townhouse or buy a home. Then they will have a yard which is more humane for them and better for the health and welfare of the animal.

Well, when you are starting out as a young adult, unfourtunatly, it is not usually an option to "buy a house". And no, most owners dont "neglect their pets". I do agree that the noise can be a problem, but I think that is about your only statement with any backing to it. I'm sorry that your neighbors did not care for their dogs as they should of, but please don't think all animals or their owners are obnoxious.
