I've been living here for about a year and would recommend this place to anyone if you're interested in a good, clean apartment with good value for your money.
PROs:
All utilities included
Units are newly renovated within the last few years
GE brand kitchen appliances
Washer/dryer in unit
Each room has separate thermostat controls
Two cable/phone outlets in each room
Grounds are clean and well-maintained
Secure entrances (keycard entry)
Armed security personnel on duty at night
Onsite fitness center
Location -- near 395/495, Metro station. Lots of shopping in the immediate neighborhood including Giant, Safeway, BJs, Best Buy, Shoppers.
CONs:
Guests cannot park past midnight (common in many Alexandria apartments)
It can sometimes be hard to park near your building if you get in late (after 10 pm) as there are no reserved spots.
I couldn't really think of too many cons for this place. Perhaps the only minor complaint would be that guests cannot park overnight. But on the flip side, since there are no reserved spots, you don't have to deal with guest parking passes, or limited numbers of guests spots if you're having a group of people over. Also, since parking is first-come first-served, sometimes I have to park a bit further away from my building when I come home late. But all things considered, these are pretty minor complaints.
I've had minimal experience with maintenance requests or working with the staff as (1) except for a light fixture (which was fixed within an hour), nothing has broken in my apartment, and (2) the only time I go to the leasing office is to drop off the rent check.
Edlandria is not one of those luxury, full-service complexes with stuff like concierge service, party rooms, swimming pools, tennis courts, garage parking, etc. Nor do the apartments have things like stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, oakwood cabints, etc. If you want that, you should look somewhere else, but you'll also be paying a lot more money. On the other hand, if you want a good, basic apartment and can do without a lot of the fancy (in my mind, nice but necessary to the tune of paying hundreds of dollars a month for) amenities, then I think this is a great place.
