If you're looking for a decent price (by decent I mean not too high for the DC area), older neighborhood, with simple apartments, this is the place. I concur with others about the peeping toms, so if you're a woman alone I wouldn't live on the first floor or go running after dark alone. Maintenance has been fair to okay. They do come within a day or two max. I had an emergency (locked out with a child late in the evening) and they came within 40 minutes, so that wasn't bad. What I like most about being here is the flora and the fauna (critters). So if you don't like squirrels, oppossums, etc., don't come here. We on the otherhand love them! There are roaches (very few...I only saw two in a year inside the apartment and maintenance will spray upon request), but there are large bugs outside at night (but since this area was probably once a forest, it seems normal to me). There are multiple pools, a gym, etc., and that's great too! Last, but not least you have several ways to get to work which is probably the best things about being here (45 min bus & metro via Pentagon). I would recommend it for a few years or as a place of transition before moving some place permanent. Note that rent goes up annually by about$60-$70.
