Almost three weeks ago I had my car broken into. There was 1,300 dollars of damage done to the car. When the police responded I was told by an officer that lived there that I was one of eight that night in the Foxchase area. The ninth person actually had their car stolen.
I have contacted the administrative office three times and have not had any results. All I want is for them to notify residents that this happened on their property. This was not one night of random incidents. According to the Alexandria police it is a regular occurance because the lots are not well lite giving opportunity to those who want to steal cars or what is in them.
The first attempt in contacting the office I was told they knew nothing about these break ins. The second time I was told they were deciding how to let the residents know about them. The third time has prompted me to write this because I would want to know that this is happening in my complex so I can be more vigilant. I, like everyone else pay a lot of money to live in this place and can be notified about community events but now about the "bad" in the community.
I was just told today by the administrative office that it was the Alexandria police department to notify us about this stuff. So, if I were assulted and the person was still on the loose and I notied the administrative office would they sweep that under the rug too' I have lived here for over a year and nothing like this has happened. According to reviews on this site the break ins have been happening since August. I think that five months was enough time to notify the residents.
I know that crime occurs everywhere but I would like to now when it happens in my back yard so I can take the best precautions I can to protect myself and my belongings.
I have talked to some of the residents and they are thankful that I have told them since it is the holiday season so they will not leave things in their cars. Also, many females have expressed that the parking lots and walk ways are not well lite.
Needless to say I am very upset about this and just wanted to let everybody that lives here know that you need to be more vigilant and if you see something please call the police right away so they can hopefully try to catch these guys.
