Overall, my experience at Foxchase was ok, but just ok. I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment near the Jordan/Howard intersection for 1 year.

Parking: I've been able to find parking not too far from where my apartment. There was always parking near the admin office, but the other lots nearby seemed to fill up quickly during the week nights. Visitor parking was also very good - they just park on the side of the street.

Maintenance: I only needed a few repairs and the maintenance department was always good about fixing everything in a timely manner.

Noise: My neighbors were pretty quiet. I haven't had any problems with them. None of them seemed to complain about me practicing my un-amplified acoustic guitar or watching tv late at night.

Safety: I haven't had a reason to feel unsafe, but I've also been informed that the section

I lived in was safer compared to most of the other parts of Foxchase. The parts closer to Duke Street feel less safe.

Office Staff: I've had issues with getting the gas account straight. It seemed like the gas account wasn't created for some reason, even after we put the request for it. I won't mention specifics, but basically, I would have liked for them to be more proactive with getting it settled sooner, rather than wait for me to initiate investigation on the issue, as well as giving me updates on the status. It seemed to take them at least 2 months to get it settled. They claimed it was because they deal with a 3rd company, but they still could have keeped me informed weekly or so on the status.

Rent prices do not include electricity, water, or gas, so keep those in mind when getting the rent pricing. In my opinion, If they covered at least the water and gas expenses (and raised rent slightly to compensate), they'd probably have less complaints about billing discrepancies, and in turn, get a higher approval rating. I also had an acquaintance who had a discrepancy with the water bill, and I'm unsure if that ever got settled. I do agree with the general consensus that they only care about money.

I also find it interesting that they seemed to have turned a blind eye to the molding according to some of the latest reviews. During the orientation, they seemed to be passionate against mold. However, I haven't had any problems with mold while I was there.

Bugs: I haven't had many problems with them. During my time there, I saw only about 4-5 of these cricket-like bugs, but that was about it.

Overall: Despite my issue with the billing, I would still put yes for the recommendation for these apartments because the essential things were there, such as feeling safe, nothing major breaking down, and not too many bugs.

What were your monthy utility bills like? How much total did you spend monthly?

At first, the water bill was about $15/month combined. Somehow, it creeped up to about $35/month. Not sure if it was because me and the roommate were doing more laundry or what. The gas bill averaged to be about $50/month. Electricity was about $100/month, but that seems to be standard everywhere for a 2 bedroom apartment in Alexandria.
