My 1BR/first floor apartment in Foxchase is my first apartment out of college. I found the price to be very reasonable considering the insane housing market in the DC area. Everything is expensive - you need to be prepared for that when you move to DC/northern Virginia.
The person who talked about the size of the complex is absolutely right. Every building and every area is different. It seems like the further back you get from Duke Street, the nicer the experience becomes.
I live on North Imboden Street near the adminstrative office. I've never had a problem with noisy neighbors or parking. The gym and pool by my building are very well-kept and recently renovated. I'm a young woman and I've never felt unsafe coming home at night, but I do take precautions (I don't take the bus after dark, I don't walk around at night, etc). I've had the occasional bug, a few maintenance problems which were solved within 24 hours, and I agree that the exterior of the buildings looks dated and sometimes in disrepair. The shuttle to King Street is pretty reliable, although it only runs for a few hours in the morning and evening. Personally, my biggest problem with Foxchase is that it isn't within walking distance to a Metro station.
I'm moving when my lease ends in August to a place closer to the District, but I would recommend Foxchase to someone who is trying to save a little money and needs to get their feet on the ground in the area.

I don't think it's appropriate for Foxchase employees to write nice review about themselves. Or is it you're young - just out of college. You have no idea yet.
