My wife and I have been searching all of the metropolitan area and settled on the Foxchase community, particularly for its location and walking distance to the King St. Metro station, shopping center, the Bank and the gas station. As a Loudoun county resident, nothing is walking distance. But as a future resident of Foxchase, its a plus to have a free shuttle to and from the metro station.
I was assisted by Kenneth Banks, who I found to be sincere and direct, not a liar like the last post indicated. Despite the ongoing construction in the leasing office, the staff were friendly and upbeat and Kenneth answered all my questions about the complex.
The community itself is nearly 60 years old, so I expect a few shortcomings. I've lived in Arlington and Vienna during the 70's and 80's and in comparison, this part of Duke st. is more modern and inviting.
It seems that previous posts indicate a problem with Maintenance... but what do residents expect from non-english speaking immigrants'
We are to move in by Feb. and I am looking forward to it.

You haven't moved in yet, wait. What do I expect from non-english speaking immigrants? I expect them to do their job, I don't care what language they speak. And when the job doesn't get done correctly, the office says, well there's a communication problem. Really? You're acknowledging the communication problem but doing nothing about it. The office people only speak English. The maintenance people speak Spanish. They do nothing to fix that problem. As a resident you have to suffer because they can't figure out how to resolve their problems.
Oh please bear with us on snow or leaf removal, it's a really big property, it takes a lot of time. No freakin' duh, it's a big property. Which means you collect a lot of rent so you hire more then two guys to rake the god damn leaves. It's not my fault you have a large property, man it properly and there won't be an issue. Foxchase employees - the place of dumb asses, managed by dumb asses.

I have lived here for about 7 months and have had no problem with maintenance at all. When I have called them with a problem it is always fixed rather promptly. The complex is old and not perfect but I know people who are paying twice what I pay elsewhere and have problems there.

The issue of non-english speaking immigrants does not bother me. Yes, they are hired to do a job, but idiocy and incompetance are a part of an immigrant's mental state... they have no shred of common sense. In reference to the actual Foxchase community, I have seen much worse in the northern VA area in comparison. I rent in a large 6 bedroom 1.4 million dollar home in Loudoun county managed by Toll brothers and their track record is flawed on a different level, so my point is, there is no perfect solution to maintenance issues. The price I pay for HOA fees is ridiculous and Foxchase is the lesser of 2 evils.

"Walking distance to the King St. Metro station" - I believed you up to that point. Foxchase is about a ten minute drive to the Kingstreet Metro. I guess if you like walking, a 30 minute, 45 minute walk is considered walking distance.
