I've lived here for almost 4yrs and had nothing but a great experience. We have a 2 bedroom/ 2.5 baths, plus den unit and it's great. When we moved in, we had a fantastic rent deal of only $1199/month. It's gone up about $70/month per year...so inching towards normal prices in the area. The maintence is very responsive within a day. We never had mice issues and the only bugs I've ever seen were a few spiders every once in awhile.

From reading the rest of the reviews, I'd recommend the 2 bedroom units on the top floors that have an in-unit W/D. Also, the farther away from Duke Street the better. We are in the N. Howard and N. Jordan Streets section, and it's peaceful with ample parking.

Careful when deciding to read these reviews I think the staff are writing good reviews here.. If you want to know the truth about the properties just do a tour for yourself. Notice the deterioration outside of the buildings on Duke, Raleigh, Jordan and Taney. Notice the lawns and upkeep of them. And also take a visit at night so you can see for yourself the unsavory characters just hanging out and about. Visit on Saturday and Sunday the park at the end of Taney and watch what goes on there. (Not for children to see). Ask to see the apartment they plan to rent to you, tell them looking at their nice model apartment is not good enough. They will make every excuse in the book not to show you. Finally ask other tenants how they like living at Foxchase of Alexandria. The strip mall on Duke was just recently re-done and looks nice. But it wasn't re-done for the tenants of Foxchase it was re-done because the affluent home owners at Cameron Station were sick and tired of not having a nice place to do their grocery shopping. That mall use to be almost vacant of stores and very run down. Nasty Magruders grocery store sat where the new and nice Harris Teeter now sits and there was a movie theater that played dirty movies for dirty old men. Magruders is now located in the shopping center near 395 of of Seminary Road and has the old Safeway location so their store looks cleaner but has the same staff.
