I find these reviews really helpful so decided I'd write one. I have lived at Foxchase, Duke Street, since about May of last year. Overall, I definitely enjoyed the experience. All maintenance requests, except one, were taken care of in a timely manner. I lived in the 2 bed, 2.5 baths, washer/dryer in apt. The biggest issue was the winter season. The master bedroom felt like I was outside. Maintenance was called reapeatdly to take care of the matter. They pretty much said there was nothing they could do, claiming it was my heat and I should turn it up higher (It was already on 80 degrees!). Of course, since Foxchase doesn't pay utilities, my gas bill was outrageous during the winter and had to run the air even harder in the summer months. I think its because the apt is on the corner. Long story short, I ended up putting plastic (from Home Depot, about $3.00) against the window in my room for insulation and bought a small heater (20 dollars). That was the problem! The insulation in the corner apts I assume, well at least mine, are horrible. Other than the insulation issue, everything else was really good. Never had a big pest problem. I may have seen some little cornbugs (2 I can remember), not sure what they were, and maybe a tiny tiny tiny spider. I'm scared of bugs, literally, so it seems like pest control is pretty good. I'm the type that would let a roach run me out of my own apartment. lol..Unless, its because I live in the pet friendly building, maybe they take of that 2. :) The free shuttle to the metro is great, especially when I miss the bus, since I work in DC. Rare occassions is it full. When it did get full, they used large bus for a little bit to accommadate the increased number of passages. I would definitely recommend the apartment but do remember that no utilities are included. You can definitely play around with things to keep your bill at the minimum but beware of the insulation. Gym is pretty decent as well-three of them. It's rare that they're full. Controlled access entry, never had a problem with any of my neighbors. Never had anyone take a package outside my door. Overall, I would renew my lease but decided to just get a one bedroom somewhere else since no utilities are included here and rent was increased by $80. I hope my experience at the next apt goes as well if no better than my experience here. Didn't mean for this to be so long, but thought I'd write a review since I rely heavily on these reviews, well at least the subject matters. Thanks for reading and take all mistakes for rushing. :)

I somehow erased my previous response...but I was just saying that I am an actual tenant but will be moving out next month...There are plenty of buildings at foxchase, so reviews will definitely vary....
I agree gnkinis, I do realize I am just one apartment out of many. That is why I chose to write a review. Its not like I said oh hail, foxchase is the best. I am only giving my opinion based on my experience because I factored in these reviews when choosing my new apt. Of course, I hated that I had to resort to buying a heater and putting plastic on my window, resulting in a higher electric bill. It would have been nice if they reimbursed my $160 heating bill that month. My washer and dryer worked fine. The only other time I had to contact maintenance was when we first moved in and the fridge had a broken handle. They replaced it with a new one in about 2 days. Like I said, there are plenty of buildings so you are bound to get plenty of different reviews. That's evident. I am only telling my side. I would stay another year if they paid utilities and the insulation wasn't so horrible. Just letting people know that the insulation is a major issue in the 2 level apts, causing higher utilities. People have to form a conclusion based on all tenants reviews and not just one. I'm only giving my 2 cents...

Even if you're not fc management: Do you realize you're just one apartment out of how many??? They maintain a very small percent of the properties. It's not fair. You were lucky you were able to move out. Try and stay a little longer and get your state of the crap washing machine fixed or just have maintenance done to it. Do you know why it was so cold in your apt? If you happen to take a faceplate off an outer wall, electrical outlet, you would see brick. Which on the other side of that brick is the outside of the building. There's no insulation. Before I did something about it, my outlets had a breeze coming from them during the winter. The buildings are not insulated. fc knows this and it's why the renter pays the utility bill. fc isn't going to insulate the buildings - that wouldn't be cost effective to them. They don't care about their tenants. The list of examples is endless. Like I said, you're lucky you got out.
