And already I wish I didn't sign the lease. I moved in October 2008. Nov 1st I dropped off my rent check. Nov 7th, I get a letter saying I didn't pay my rent and I owed them the month's rent plus $75. After cancelling the check, paying for a certified check (the policy if you don't pay on time), and the additional $75, they cost me an additional $125 on top of my rent. I went to the office to speak with my area coordinator. She was not available. I dropped off the check with a note to please call as I was protesting and wanted the additional amount plus the addtional fees I incurred credited to my December rent. One week later, I'm still waiting for a call. As I see it, they are either incompetent or they are deliberately neglient at the expense of the tenants. Needless to say, I can't wait another 10 plus months until my lease expires and I can be done with this place. I've sent a letter to AIMCO and I'm still awaiting a response.

You will wait forever for a call from Aimco, they are slumlords. I use to call them all the time and their mailbox was either full or no one would answer the phone. I can't understand why people don't read these reviews first before signing the lease. Good Luck

Yes, AIMCO is a slumlord. They own hundreds of apartment complexes and they are the biggest landlord in the country. Based on tenant complaints from all across the country AIMCO is deliberately negligent at the expense of their tenants. At many of their properties they "lose" rent checks and then try to charge the tenant late fees. If management is allowed by the tenant to automatically debit the rent payment (and it is extremely foolish for the tenant to allow that), then sometimes management will "forget" to debit the tenant's rent on time (or else say the transaction failed somehow) and then add on late fees. At other times management will double charge the rent payment for a single month. If they claim the rent check is "lost", then sometimes they will accuse the tenant of non-payment, and if the tenant adamantly insists that they have paid the rent, then often the "lost" check will mysteriously reappear. These kinds of tricks happen far too often at AIMCO properties to be merely an accident or a coincidence. And this is just what they do with the rent payments! Many of their apartment complexes are full of toxic mold, their tenants are getting sick, and AIMCO does not care and does not ever make repairs. Also, after you move out they will probably lie to keep your security deposit. Never trust them! Again, my comments are based on tenant complaints about AIMCO from all across the country. Make sure when you move out that you don't ever move into another AIMCO property.

My advice...pay the late fees...move forward...and move out in 10 months. Their next step will be eviction. AIMCO has more money than we can imagine. What do they have to lose by taking you to court and winning their case. The burden of proof will have to be on you. You are in a no win situation. Your word against AIMCO?? However, "Good Luck" in which strategy you take.

You people cry too much. Read your leases first off. Rent is due NLT the 5th of the month and those letters you get are automaticly printed up. I'd recommend you pay your rent on time because you have no arugment to stand on other wise. 2nd, what do you expect. It's a middle class community with what, 5 coordinators in a complex that's more that 5 blocks wide. Be realistic.

In response to the post above, all these people said they paid rent on time... not after the 5th of the month. And most people expect the employees of apartment communities to be competent enough in their jobs that they can handle rent checks (one of the most basic concepts of apartment living), though apparently at Foxchase, competency is far too much to ask for...

I turn in my rent check in person each month and have never had a late fee. You should learn from mistakes and not blame others for your misfortune.

I moved here few months ago and already I see many many roaches...small and big wondering in the kitchen and even in bathooms!!! To top it off now I have MICE running in the kitchen and living area. We called them twice and all they did was put some cheap mouse trap. They dont call to followup nor tell us what they did to fix the problem. Please if you have some sane mind, DO NOT move in to this apartment, even if they give good offers. Everything in here is old and dirty and they don't even recycle, nor do they collect the trash out from the dumpster regularly. I even had racoons in my balcony one day. Just too many problems and a horrible horrible place to live in.
