'Keep reading for the best info.....I lived in the one bedroom for one year & found it a fair deal in this area. The other tenants turn over constantly so you never know who's in your building. The most troublesome issue for me was the huge "spider crickets" that are in your apt. from March/April to November/December at least. These many-legged creatures have a big spider body & legs like a huge cricket/spider: U-G-L-Y. A neighbor there did research on them, they 'drop' out of the central air vents/ducts and can these buggers ever jump! Oh, and they climb the walls & walk on the ceiling too! I covered all the vents with screening mesh & packaging tape and blocked every crack in the kitchen floor, under appliances etc. and it helped! The management really tries & the maintenance staff are helpful.

Research: Camel crickets are common in the Virginia area and are most often seen in basements. I found this out after moving here from Maryland four years ago and living in a basement apartment. After that experience, I decided I had better either fork up more money for a higher level apartment or get used to those harmless yet ugly bugs. You can't curse at mother nature- those bugs were here before we were.

I lived in Fox Chase many years ago (1982 - 1984). It actually was a decent place to live then. I moved out because my apartment flooded one night during a heavy rainstorm and it was deemed uninhabitable. (The flooding was inevitable because of the way the slope of the land funneled water towards my "terrace" (I believe that was what they called the basement units) apartment bedroom window.) I bet they rented that apartment to somebody else as soon as they cleaned it up though. When I lived there, it hadn't that many years since the old Shirley Duke apartments had been renovated into Fox Chase, so my carpet was still new-ish and the appliances and bathroom fixtures were in good shape. It's kind of sad to read how far downhill things have gone since then. HOWEVER! The main reason I'm posting is because you mentioned those crickets! I had them too! I had never seen anything like those suckers. I called them crickets from Mars.
