So I had signed for a year, and ended up moving out after 5 months...it was actually due to school, but had it not been, I still would have left. I understand that apartments/housing in Virgina is normally ridiculously expensive, but for over a thousand dollars for a 400-something square foot apartment (one bedroom), with no utilities covered..it was a bit much. It was literally the size of a closet...ridiculously small space.
and...the BUGS. Bugs you never knew existed emerged from the cracks of nowhere. The first night my husband and I were there, and the bed wasnt out of the moving truck, we ended up sleeping on blankets for the night. My husband woke up with a GINORMOUS bruise like spot on his arm...he was bit by a nasty nasty spider and his body ended up trying to contain the venom. Not even kidding. We had silverfish, and other crazy bugs. Alas, Foxchase would not pay for the exterminator to get rid of silverfish, only cockroach and other commonly found bugs. Although, the service when our sink leaked and toilet broke, was very prompt. When we were a couple weeks late with rent though, they understood and actually waived our fee, despite our lack of an excuse. I also lived in an area where dogs were allowed, and NO ONE keeps their dog on a leash, which they're supposed to, per contract. My 15 pound dog was tackled by a cockerspaniel, who was indeed not on a leash. NO ONE kept their dog on a leash, and people didnt pick up their dog "crap" which made it not the best. And, the pool was never open. Which made me quite sad.
And the laundry room. HA. Okay, the dryer just never worked, and moneywise, it was no deal. We ended up driving down the street to the laundromat when we needed to do laundry.
id say the HUGE downside, was the size, the rent, the lack of dog leashes, laundry facilities, and the BUGS most of all. Although they had prompt service and friendly staff.
