Wonderful place to live

My boyfriend lived happily in a Foxchase 1 bedroom for two years. When we moved in together, we moved a couple of blocks away to a 2-level, 2 bedroom unit. I love this apartment and the community as a whole. Though the buildings are older, it is well built. We have had no problems with leaks or drafts. My neighbors are very social and throw parties regularly, but the party sounds (which are noticeable in the hall) are barely noticeable in the apartment. If the tv is on, I can't hear them at all.

The grounds are very well kept. The staff is out almost daily tending the grounds, cleaning the parking lots, and cleaning the common areas in the buildings. In my 2 years, I've only seen one insect in my unit. And a call to the maintenance office had someone in the building within 24 hours to spray. In general, the maintenance at this community has been outstanding. Evey time I called (washer leak, loose floor tile, squirrel in the attic) resulted in immediate action, often on the same day.

The community could use more lighting in the parking lot and on the buildings. You can't read the building numbers at night. But I feel very safe walking to and from my car. Depending on where you live in the complex (it's huge!) you can have parking problems on weekend nights, since most of the complex does not have assigned parking.

Finally, the complex is adjacent to a shopping plaza with a Harris Teeter grocery store (open 24 hrs!), Rite-Aid drug store, dry cleaner, Chipolte, Subway, 3 other restaurants, Curves, and several other retailers. There's a also a 7-11 and couple of gas stations within a block. Incredible convenience. I often walk to the grocery when I need to pick up just a couple of items.

The only reason we are moving is because my boyfriend's job is moving to Manassass. The commute is a killer, even though it's "against traffic." So we are moving outside the beltway. And the insult to the injury of leaving such a great place to live is that the places we are looking at out there are smaller, not as close to the retail conveniences, and cost more than Foxchase.

If your commute allows it, I highly recommend Foxchase. It's a good location at a good price.
