OK Place to Live
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 8/9/2005
Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005
I've lived at Foxwood Place for two years, and it's been pretty nice overall. It definitely has its ups and downs:
Location
While it's fairly close to 395 the neighborhood isn't the best and there is indeed a juvenile detention center next door. There have been a few incidents in the parking lot since I've lived there (someone had all four tires stolen off their car recently). That said, I used to work nights and never felt scared coming in late at night.
Noise:
I may be the only person rating this who has a complaint, but my apartment is noisy. I've had numerous complaints about one of my neighbors and have had to call the police since the staff has done little to nothing to address the issue and to the best of my knowledge, there is no security in the building. Also, for whatever reason fire trucks roll by the building alot with their sirens going, which can get rather loud.
Apartment:
I'm in a studio, which is small but it has a balcony, which helps alot. The kitchen is tiny (think galley on a boat). There is one drawer in the kitchen and storage is a constant issue. There are three rather decent sized closets in the apartment itself which you can put alot into.
Bugs:
Honestly, I've never seen a bug in the apartment other than a fly getting in when I'm on the balcony. They spray regularly (the exterminator showed up in the middle of Hurricane Isabel a few years ago!)
Costs:
I'm moving this year because the rental increase was outrageous. Also, the issue of utilities is bizarre to me. No matter how much water, heat and air conditioning you use, you will be charged your "square foot" share. Some months it's $60 even when I've been out of town for most of it.
If it weren't for the price hike along with the noisy neighbor I would probably have stayed in that building for another few years. As it is, being asked to pay almost $900 before utilities while being subjected to Classic Rock through your walls late into the night just wasn't enough for me to stay.
